Plasma cutter

Hi guys looking to get a plasma cutter for a bit of general fab work, i only have single phase so nothing to beefy and only for odds and sods not like its going to be used every day, any got any good value for money ideas thanks for your help

I got a plasmapart 50 pilot pro - not used it a lot but it is a nice setup - seems like they have dropped the 50 from the range though and only do a 40 version - have a look, might do your job... up to 15MM clean.

Got an SIP 3 phase.... good tool for the money.

R-tech stuff is always value for money. I'd go as far as to call it professional gear at (almost) DIY prices.

I've not used their cutter much, but it seems to have the guts when required. The MIG has been faultless. Backup is supposed to be first class too.

bought my 130A Cifi back from the CEF member who bought it from me a while back ..... 32+mm clean.... but 3 ph ....
TBH I have no idea what to suggest by way of an inverter plasma ...
Doob certainly seems to get on with his R-tech stuff ok and it does look reasonably spec.ed gear TBF
As with all this sort of kit ..... you only get what you pay for so don't expect a grands-worth of performance from a 250 quid investment ... buy the best you can afford with as high a spec. as poss. ...... good tools cost and always have

They do indeed cost mate, but sometimes there's a 'sweet spot' with a lot of things. I'd say R-tech is in that sweet spot quite nicely.

I say that as someone who has 'top notch' gear in most other lines- top end Makita, top end Stihl etc.

all this talk of £250 and more for a plasma cutter I am waiting for the lidl £99 to come in store already had them in Ireland so we wont be far away for my few and far between use it will be more than handy

Thanks for the help, it looks like i will have to get the big hammer out for the piggy bank i was hoping some one would say "i got a half decent one on amazon for £199.00 and worth a go" but i dose not look that way, its different if you are using it every day it feels like a better investment i suppose i will just have to spend the money and make more attachments bucket carrier scopy thing for the blade thats next

A guy on another forum was saying about this, he’s got one. Works well enough apparently. And consumables are readily available online according to him. 3 year warranty too. Worth a punt?

yeah I see about it on another forum and had a read up about it on a welding site last night and that is why I think I am going to give it a punt won't have a massive amount of use for it but at that price would be silly not to have one for a rainy day

It seems to look like it can do the job in the right hands...was half thinking about looking into getting one for a few little jobs, but seeing your post, it certainly looks worth a punt....

trip to Lidl on the cards ..... that for 100 bucks is a steal ..... for light stuff anyway and need a small torch for fiddlies to make life easier
if it does up to 6mm clean that's pretty fair for what it is. Would certainly keep Pam happy in 3mm stainless products

I’m sure the bit I read, the guy reckoned it went through 12mm no problem. Weather that was clean, or simply severance, I have no idea, or how long it would sustain that kind of cutting.
But a bargain for tge money and with a decent warranty, hard to go wrong!

f**k me, I can spend more than £100 on a few consumables for my Hypertherm!
