Asbestos removal...

Not sure if this is the right area to post, mods pls relocate if necessary.

I was wondering if anyone could offer any words of wisdom on Asbestos removal.

I've been googling around for specialists.... and it seems an area you could right-royally have your pants pulled down if approched completely blind.

I've got a dutch barn with approx. 40sqm on the roof to dispose of imminently.... but I have a longer term project on a 312sqM barn which is 70% board (4ft of brick base).

Someone has mentioned it might just be cement board?? Either way I need to get rid safely whilst protecting my wallet... so any advise would be appriceated.

Cheers.

Insurance and paperwork will be your biggest problem.
Not sure if a job that size is notifiable

Thanks for your replies. I could probably do the smaller roof with a bit of education and some PPE.

The bigger barn is the real issue. Maybe I'll do the smaller and pallet the stuff up, get a firm in to do the bigger job and send the pallet off with that lot to be disposed of.

hardcore under a slab it is then :ROFLMAO:

I wouldn't say that's dreadfully expensive to be fair it's not the heaviest stuff going so that's a fair volume per tonne.
Or atleast when you consider most those old panels are half disintegrated anyway

A local cowboy tried this on a new ag shed he was building, dug out big hole in middle of the shed, placed all sheets in covered with hardcore and then concrete slab on top. Authorities came along at the end drew a big square on the concrete and made them dig it up and found the evidence. It seemed they knew where to look. That guy escaped to NZ and is now at large and the poor farmers land has been classified as contaminated until he can prove otherwise. Short of digging the whole place up and testing it's not an easy thing to do apparently 🧐
