JCB 8014CTS track gearbox oil

Hi All.
I have a 2015 jcb 8014CTS mini digger and i want to change the track gearbox oil.
I have looked around and asked but i get different recommendations , some say i need SAE 30 engine oil (not multigrade) and others say i need EP 80w90.
Any help please ?

SAE 30 straight engine oil. Seems crazy but that’s what it’s meant to be. Although I’m sure 80/90 wouldn’t kill it, I’ve run it in a mini for a long time.
Main thing is change it regularly whatever your sticking in it.

They say SAE 30 but many of the jcb suppliers i tried said EP 80W90

epicyclic drive ... EP80/90'd be my choice ...... those little sun/planet gears'll be taking some hammer .... the EP is designed for high load gear lube-ing ....
IMHDO 30 is way out of spec. in summat like that ... but if you're selling spares
for the cost/quantity very regular changes is cheap maintenance if it's tracked about much

80/90, f**k JCB's specs. Change it every 250 hours, it costs less than a fiver and takes less than five minutes. But if you don't and the gearbox shits itself.... ££££!

Sae30 is what they say obviously, cat says 80/90 gl5 so I guess it’s up to you. Main thing as doobin says is changing it regularly! I likewise add it into the 250hr service, silly not to really!

Most things are 80/90, Jcb probably had a deal with Arab Emirates for machines but took a load of 30 in PX!

so is it literally just EP 80w90 off the shelf and if so whats the difference between EP and EPX ect, is it multigrade or monograde ( as the jcb spec says not multigrade sorry for the questions but i am in France and its a nightmare trying to buy anything like this here ?

A 5l tub of sea 30 from our local jcb dealer was amazingly cheap and I knew it was what jcb said so there was no come backs if anything went wrong (whilst under warranty that is)

Under warranty its best to follow the book, they will try and wangle out of any big claims anyway possible!

This is true. Also with jcb if unsure check with your dealer as its not unknown for them to change away from spec in book. I know when i did gearbox oil change years ago on 3cx when i asked for the oil for it in dealer they said we don't use that anymore and gave me a different grade.

A lot of Cat epicyclics take TDTO 30. The CTL’s take 75w140 synthetic in the finals. With a lot of modern materials in drives you’re wiser to follow the specs than experience.

thanks for all the advise think i will go with the JCB SEA30 after all if i can find a dealer near me !
