I like cake
not watched any tv for the last week :D apart from netflix etc. I rarely watch normal tv apart from footy and motorsport

edited to add, also bloomberg. Bloomberg is on at work all day and at home every morning. I really enjoy catching up on that channel

There`s got to have been processes we didn't see, degreasing, shot blasting to remove the mill scale?

Never ever had a backhoe with paint problems on the back actor, I’d go as far to say that part of the machine had the best paint I’d had on any machine…..!
Loader arms/cab are generally rubbish! Painted separately btw!

On a different point, I’ve pulled many backhoes to bits fixing them with basic socket sets etc.. but these latest incarnations just look almost impossible to fix at the side of the road! I think they days of buying one to keep and run/fix in the evenings are gone! It’s all going toward lease hire and get a new one every 3yrs….

didn't see much in the way of shot blasting off the mill scale ??????
I never said there prep was good btw. The primer and topcoat yellow combo is ok as you have dedicated layers to do their job and no prep between as they use wet on wet system. The black however is powder coat. The problem with powder coat is anything under it or any scratches afterwards allow rust to creep underneath and then it comes off in sheets. They'd be better off priming and painting the black imo but that would slow production as you'd have to wait for paint curing before assembly.

Tbh i don't see they are a vast amount worse than one's from 20 year ago. Other than servo controls for the back end there's not a lot on one now that wasn't there 20 year ago. They just change colours and shape of mudguards once a month so you think they are a new model.

I think the sad reality is that instead of being able to concentrate on innovating the backhoe, they have spend all the budget on getting them through emission's standards that raise every year

When I did the factory tour a few years ago (on the backhoe/telehandler line) they sent all the fabricated parts through absolutely massive automated shot-blasting booths before paint - everything came out super-shiny!
