Serious envy here! Love it… low ground pressure with the wide tyres too I guess?

I’ve hired a small jcb telehandler on and off over the last two years, spent about £9k in hire… kicking myself not getting second hand one of these or a multi one like doobins.

The one we hire, jcb, weighs about 6 ton for a 2 ton lift and is murder over even reasonable ground or even a foot of MOT putting huge ruts in it…
I’m assuming these are a lot better?
Do any firms hire them? Can’t find anything local to me. Would suit my needs much more…

hell you could have a 13t 360 for that and a bit of change 'praps ... might knacker a few lawns though

Yes when I enquired about seemed to be starting rate and that was for next model down

Wow! Expensive to hire but I guess the value of yours puts that in perspective though.
The little JCB we have on hire is £220 a week for a couple of months hire, which I thought was cheapish.
Although if I add in the repair of the turf it’s destroyed under the track mats probably not much in it!

Don't know what your lifting but have you tried one of the little wiedermann telehandlers. Might be a bit of a compromise between hire price and destruction. Not as good as the multione but cheaper to hire and not as destructive as the jcbs that really are amazing at sinking

Its horses for courses though. Its ok saying smaller handlers like jcb and merlo etc are heavy and need good ground which is true but what they are capable of lifting is far more than ur multione etc. The little wiedemann/neuson handlers are good handy little machines but I'd be surprised if they have any more lift capacity than an avant/Multione and are probably a bit wider too (although could be cheaper going by what's on here)

I find they just wont pick up quite enough. They say they can lift 1.4t but personally, much more than 1t and they are beeping at you. Brilliant little machines though, just wish it had a bit more capacity. They also work really well with a bucket and you can move some gear with one in a short time.

It would be interesting to see what the merlot and jcb are like on wider tyres
The slightly bigger jcb on agri tyres is alot better than smallest one which seem to be fitted with forklift tyres as standard.

Oh they aren't cheap! Although they do come with a cab with glass and a heater for similar money. They don't have the aux flow of the tool carriers and for me that's where they aren't really as good as an all rounder. An Avant 860 will outlift it and out power it with attachments. It really depends what your requirements are.
I think the reason most telehandlers sink is because they are heavy. They have to be to safely lift what they can. With any of these sub 3t machines that can lift over 1t, I am always very dubious about lifting that kind of weight too high - there's no substitute for displacement they say - and in this instance - counterweight!!!

The neuson/wiedemann don't have any where near the engine hp of the bigger avants etc they only run a turbo version of the yanmar found in a 1 ton dumper.

I struggle to see the appeal of all these mini loaders tbh- a mate has a Gehl- it weighs about 2.8t and is fairly well built- but it bounced of a pile of granite walling stone- he uses it for firewood and it's great for that, I suppose they're a large garden/amenity landscaping tool really which makes sense as generally alot of money for smaller scale jobs.

Trouble the mini handlers have with wider tyres/flotations will be load rating. Full bucket boomed out until picking bum up will probably be way over any load rating for any other tyres than what they are fitted with. The other thing is grip, its ok going wide to stay on top but then you've no bite to load the bucket.
