Wrong oil in Kubota

What would happen if you put 10w-30 in the hydraulic system that’s currently running aw46 hydraulic oil?

Whilst it may not be ideal I'm gonna bet not a lot tbh. There's a lot of crossover between oils and usage. Tractor transmission oil is a hyd oil anyway. I'm not saying long term its a good thing necessarily.

Will find that the 10W30 (UTTO - Universal Tractor Transmission Oil) will have additives to stop squeaky brakes..... Probably not a lot else different.

Tbh the multitude of Oil "grades" is a big con in my book..... Only real issues are the working temperatures and what any specific anti wear additives.

So can you mix 5-40 and 15-30 for example? I never see any fitter cleaning out oil jugs for example?

I come across all types of oils in all the wrong places, the most common one is ATF in the hydraulic tank! It works fine, not so clever when they fill it with diesel, but it still works, but washes everything as it goes

I filled my first ever 3cx hydraulic tank up with diesel.. expensive mistake, luckily didn’t turn it on!

I was told not so long ago, that a biggish plant outfit fairly local to me runs ATF in all their machines hydraulics, excavators, dumpers, the lot…all hot ATF in the hydraulics. How true it is I don’t know, if he changes new machines oil immediately I’m not sure?

Iirc a Komatsu we once had used 10W engine oil in everything, engine, hydraulics, track hubs etc

-7 series.... Tbh they never ran right if you put 46 in.

This was a -5 I think. Never liked it….

You do get a range of colours too, Yanmars used to run blue 46 hydraulic, on occasion I have found some creamy coloured hydraulic oil, just cleaned a hydrastatic 2 tonne thwarted dumper, head to toe, big job but customer happy to use clean oil from now on
