Merlo multifarmer telehandler

Anyone had any experience with these? Could prove handy having a 9m telehandler with a 30t capability pickup hitch, 3pt linkage and PTO.. 136/170hp and 40k box.

would forgoe the need for me to run a tractor and mid size telehandler both of which don’t clock up many hours..

I've had a go in one and driven plenty of merlos.
It entirely depends what you want it for.
Hydro drive is very slow on the road and even slower with a trailer.but great loading bale's or the like.
And pretty sure the pto is hydraulic so probably not greatly efficient but not 100% on that.

That’s my only gripe, my mates had afew and snapped two in half… putting that aside it looks a handy tool!
I only need the 3pt linkage and pto to run a fancy topper(major cyclone) and for towing it’s a 14t dump trailer but it’s only used on site - I’m not into running dump trailers on the road all day long! My 533-105 jcb only does 100 hours a year but it’s invaluable to me.. if jcb did a 535-95 with a pto and linkage I’d be all over it!

I guess that’s that then.. merlo are poop so don’t buy one, I guess when you don’t see readily available kit out in the wild it’s usually for a good reason!

It's down to preference. I personally quite like driving them. They are a lot more stable than jcbs for farm use and can be driven on one pedal.
They do have electrical gremlins and break problems down to not being used by most people but apart from that they arnt bad really. But I don't think it will tow your dump trailer very well.
The transmission sucks power so badly they really struggle with a trailer at the best of times

I think @Smiffy is right about personal preference, people I know who have Merlos and love them, when they come to change try others bit go back to Merlo.
I once had to deliver a Merlo to a site to replace a damaged Manitou (they had dropped something on it and bent the extender ram), the driver was complaining and wanted to keep `his` Manitou even with out the extender, Merlos are rubbish/no good etc, anyway a few weeks later got the job to take the Manitou back and swop them over, they didn`t want the Manitou back after having the Merlo for a few weeks, irc the Manitou went back to the hirers depot.

followed a big red telehandler down our road yesterday - on the back of a traccy/low loader ... 1 x 5t strap over the bucket .. and that was it
trailer bed covered in 1-2" of tish, was waiting for it to go sideways on a few tight corners and hung well back ... he wasn't hanging about - as usual

Save your money and marriage. They never sold many because they are a terrible compromise between a tractor and a loader, and the cost difference when new would buy you a reasonable secondhand tractor.
