Hi all

This is mad for cars at the moment as well as everything in places

I am thinking at running a sandhill comps thing where we sell a ticket for a small amount in a view to a very honest auction.

We have a lovely tilt rotator 2.5 tonne in at the moment with a nice set of buckets,, 2019 plate with 800 hours

100 a ticket x however many tickets (my idea is 500) which should allow us to cover fees and advertising like mad via social.

The machine itself is £40k to replace today with new if not more

a very open question to anybody... would you? I am a asking here as you would kinda be our target audience etc

I probably would have a punt if someone like you was running it Ross, but £100 is a fair punt.

would I definitely win?😂

It is but equally to most plant guys its not a lot i suppose, the issue is to reduce it means you need to sell more tickets and the odds are much less. I also think it could be harder to sell such a large qty

I know it seems daft but there would be a lot of younger generation in something like that too, it could be a chance for somebody to start up on there own or win a digger worth 35 odd k at todays value

Think i would have a go. Only because your a trust worthy company. I've seen a few on social media but wouldn't trust it was genuine also I could use that machine.

The ones on social media always look dodgy. Like, who’s actually overseeing them?

I'd be tempted but the odds of winning are low- I might be better of using the money to buy 50 lottery tickets🤔

thats a battle that unless you put the price up you will never overcome. Odds of 500/1 are better than most but i do get what you mean

I need to understand the VAT element of it as i assume thats payable by us. So it may get worse. Perhaps thats why we dont see many plant comps

's a very nice prize, but as said ... 100 quid at 500-1 :unsure::unsure: ...
the only thing I've ever won in all the raffles, etc., I've ever bought into, was a bottle of Chianti :censored:... and no fava beans :ROFLMAO:
that sort of luck doesn't seem to be in my destiny
but ..... at least with Ross running the show, some lucky sod is going to be grinning from ear to ear .... presumably there would be 500 tickets available and that is all ? when they're gone, they're gone and the odds are set - end of ?
there must be 500 folks out there willing to chance a ton ????(y)

yep thats it not extend etc you cant do that im sure. IT has to be correct

to reduce the price means you need to sell more tickets which is worse odds.

ultimately somebody would win a pretty decent tool for £100

TBH it's something i might consider with such a decent prize and a known promoter with integrity (y)

would imagine there must be damned near enough ppl on here willing to have a go at such short odds, for such a decent prize ... you might have to run a second for your FB followers Ross :giggle:

One of the lads at work enters these to win cars etc (and has never won anything), and I know another lad who advertised a tricked-up Audi and it was bought by one of these raffle companies to use as a prize.
It’s not for me, but there is obviously a market out there.

Also, are they time limited? What happens if you only sell half the tickets - do you still have to make the draw and just swallow the loss? There must be some sort of rules/regs to follow - it is gambling after all. And GDPR obviously plays a big part too.
