I had a Dutch girlfriend and she told me that during the war (Rodney) her grandparents used to cook tulip bulbs to eat as ze Germans had it away with all the potatoes. Apparently it doesn’t work with daff bulbs as they contain some toxin that won’t cook out and it’s a painful death. If I‘ve got that the wrong way round I apologise in advance.apparently they'm quite good eating too ... but not sure if the colour variations have any effect on their flavour
