We've got a 67plate transit drop side pickup, about 3 and a half weeks ago someone lost the keys for it. I called up the local ford garage to get a spare sorted and it would be ready in 2 days. Perfect I thought. But on collection of the new keys it turns out it needs to be coded to the van and has to go through the garage for that and can't get it booked in for three weeks . So not much we can do we'll go for it. So was booked in for 10am this morning and they said would be ready in an hour. We left it and would come back after lunch time. It's now half three and I'm still standing at the garage waiting for it. What are ford on. Who can afford to have a van sitting like that. What a shambles.
What are everyone's thoughts on the MAN vans?

Love our MAN looking at getting another. Drives beutifull. And you get the truck 24hr service . Had VWs for years and had the odd hiccup apart from busy garage their service is pretty good....the one ranger we have on the other hand....the lad who drives sats the garage is utterly crap...last time it was in a guy smacked it up...

I tried to order a new MAN TGE today - their order books are closed, all production slots taken until 2023 apparently!

(I thought any pikey with an eBay skeleton key and a bit of software could open and drive off in a transit within 5 mins by the way!)

The man tge is a VW crafter, not sure on the other models.

Surprised it took so long to sort a key, coding should be simple. I think the 2017 transit will have admin and mykeys, If I remember right if you have an admin key you can program the other keys without any kit, although not very helpful in an all keys lost situation.

The service department at my local ford commercial centre was good, when the ranger was in warranty all bits sorted with no issues, not been back since our of warranty as its cheaper elsewhere. The sales side were absolutely useless, when I originally went in they just weren't interested and couldn't be arsed to actually find me what I wanted namely the 3.2 auto ranger, which the salesman constant would only show me 2.2's or manual 3.2's. so bought it from the car shop across the road

When I bought my tipper, got a local independent locksmith out, cut and coded a new remote key and removed all the other previous ones.

i had same problem with our last iveco, a local locksmith came out. broke into the van in seconds (withjout damage) unplugged the immobiliser and somehow got the codes from it to program 2 new keys. took him less than an hour the lot £250.

Anyone remember the old A series Fords? Built like a scaled down truck rather than a scaled up Transit. Front bumper was pressed Out of 1/8” plate.

yeh with the 6 cylinder York in it ...... highly desirable for classic RR conversions

bought this just for the lump (and was cheap) ... climb a vertical face if you could get traction

I presume the MAN will be more money than transit same as sprinter and crafter, but when you get a day like yesterday when customers are all pushing, the guys phoning looking for stuff and your stuck being let down by your truck you forget about the few grand saved buying Ford

Wouldnt count on the vw being any more reliable especially if you go automatic

Someone was saying the other day the MAN was nearly £5k cheaper than the equivalent crafter
