Yesterday’s aggravation

I’ve got reasonable to keeping the edges straight, Gra. Some of the new buckets we’ve had have come from the factory twisted to buggery, and when we’ve re-worked them I do what you say and usually they end up straighter than new. Sad they can’t do the same thing in the factory, isn’t it? Lowest bidder syndrome.

115 mm Makita, 110 and 240 V, can’t beat them in my opinion. We’ve bounced them all over the place and the only thing seems to faze them is one heavy handed gentleman in our team who pressed so hard that the gears got hot enough to soften the motor casing, which was some feat of engineering.

The bucket has been used on several Cat 320’s and 323’s over about 15 years, so needed a bit of tlc.

bet that was exciting Bri :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: ... molten melt everywhere  ... used to have a 110v one that gave similarly 'interesting' effects

what's the little (4.5"?) grinder ..... just reminded me that my 4.5 Mak caught fire the other day and need to replace it :cry: .. was my favourite on the bench :( ..... it's done well though - 'spect it's 15 yrs old - stator windings melted :censored:
Grab a Fein Gra. Only hear good stuff and their support is mint. Loads online or give me a shout if you struggle.

I picked up a metabo a few year back when the bosch I'd had for donkeys died. Thought for £36 + vat i I'd give it a go (throw away society and all that) 🤣 Honestly think its brilliant a lot of 115 grinders are far heavier and fatter in the handle than they need to be imho. I think with grinders and cutters often the money best spent is on the discs/blades.

If you’re on one hours at a stretch, how smooth the motor runs makes a lot of difference. A rough runner will chew up cutting discs in no time.

I find it fine in that respect. I've actually used a few makitas and others which are poor for vibes after not very long.

agreed .... as said, that one has taken some hammer over the years .... on the benches every day and still kicking -- least it was :cry: ..

got a couple of Bosch, but rarely use them .. never been a lover or had much luck with them .. never seem to last - not like Mr Mak's anyway

Metabo are insanely good grinders. Step up to 125 or even 150mm too. The 150mm metabo I have was £260 but worth every penny. So little vibration, small and handy but tons of power.

think I've got a Metabo 4" somewhere? .. used to have a 7" one which was very good and a lot easier on the arms than a full 9" ...... will have to have a sort through me grinder cupboard ...... just that my 115 Mak was the 'go to' for single handed use ... perfect in the hand ... it will be sadly missed
have a couple of the Dewalt 831 double hander 5", 1400W, which are awesome and last forever (y) ... at a price

I'd sooner the Metabo version, cheaper also although they do one at 1700w too.

try the 831 ... so much more comfortable to use and a 'proper' switch/trigger -- not a fan of the 'sliders' and a fat ol' body for long use ... decent stuff though ... have never burnt out an 831
