Kubota KX-101 Hydraulic Issue

Hi first post đź‘‹

I have a Kubota KX-101 which has an airlock problem on the charge pump for the servo controls, and I keep losing joysticks, and having to crack of the hose on the pump to clear it.

Any ideas of anything common on this digger causing the leak?

Thanks,
Dean

It’s what I do!
If the oil runs low the charge/ pilot picks up air first, and if used with low oil for a long period, damage will occur on the side plates in the pump. 2nd check engine oil level, if it has a timing case pump!

What age or model do you have, or serial number?

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better

OP doesn't say if he's losing oil levels but the timing gear driven pump'd be a good option if it's dropping and not showing ... hopefully though a rising sump level ought to show on dailies - if done
blocked pick up in the tank could possibly cause it to suck air through any available leaky joint/clip and the tank to pump line is low pressure so could be just a jubilee that'd quite possibly allow air to be sucked by it

Correct, I did have one where the o ring between the pump inlet manifold had been partially sucked in and drew in some air. Check the supply hose from the tank to the pump, after the pump is pressure side, the air is already in the oil by this time!

Hi all, thanks for responding.

It is a 2004 model.

I'll do some checks on fluid levels.

I have only just got this digger so might sort out doing a general service, filter and fluid changes. Sounds like that might help!

And have a look at any leaky joints.

From what I can tell, the pilot pump on this model tee's off from the suction pipe of one of the main pumps. So I am currently assuming it must be between the main pump and the pilot pump? But that might just be wishful thinking!

Yep, it’s a metal “T” into rubber, but the pilot pump is situated higher up than the main pump, so the slightest leak on the supply oil will cause an issue.
