Single vs double acting auxiliary on micro.

I've been looking online but can't find definitive answers, so I hope you don't mind me asking perhaps a stupid question..

8010 only has single acting aux, what are the drawbacks? E10 has double acting, is this a big deal?

Single acting is fine for a breaker, but that's about it. If you want to do things like reverse an auger, use a grab, use a tilting grading bucket etc, then double acting is needed.

I wouldn't want a micro without double acting aux. I regularly use a hydraulic grapple, auger and Powertilt on mine.

Looking on the JCB parts website, it only mentions a double acting auxiliary hydraulic system.

According the specification on the JCB website it also mentions that the auxiliary hydraulics have been upgraded from single to double acting.

This is something you have to watch across the board with jcb. Wheras many others offer very little in the way of options on machines (fully spec them for uk market) jcb like to have an options list a mile long. Can make a very competitively priced machine dear if you actually match them up spec wise.

Nothing's ever straightforward! When I asked jcb rep specifically about getting double acting auxiliary, he said they don't offer on that model because:

"there is not enough room in the body of the machine to add more pipe work and pumps as this would make the body bigger therefore not allowing you to get through door ways"

Which is frustrating as I'm leaning towards the 8010, but would want to be able to use a tilting grading bucket and an auger.

This is where different dealers do different things as standard.
Example

Watling put tails on there hammer pipework to run to the dipper.
Greensheild do not

I would imagine a lot of the 8010s are probably double acting

Hes probably confusing it with extra aux pipes, ie 4 lines.

Yet another classic case of a salesman spouting bullshit about sommat he knows nothing about.

If you’re wanting to use all those attachments I’d at least demo a few machines with servos and without first, there’s a big difference especially if doing it all day.

On my Kubota, the spool for the aux is a double acting, but one side is blanked and the pedal arranged to only actuate the “live” side. Maybe the JCB is the same? It would be easy to run lines to the unused side of the valve, I’m going to do it to my machine When time allows

Yes if machine doesnt come with two way aux but it can be specified most dealers sell a kit to allow 2 way if required

Its more than 1.5t money. Im paying 16,200 for my 18z. With double acting aux it has to be said! That is blank dipper though. I'd hope they could do you an 8010 for less than that? But maybe they are such a specialist machine they command a higher price tag.

I was always told by our local rep the 8010 is more money than a 1.5tonner and hence another reason why they are factory order only.

They are about 3k dearer than an e10 now. I'd still be torn which way to go. Spose it's one reason why I have both

Don't forget you don't have to use the finance the dealer has offered you, you can shop about with finance companies
