do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
The U10 is 750mm wide currently. But if you have the room its a much better machine for it. With proper servo's its going to give the Bobcat a run for its money as the digging end is far superior in terms of geometry. Glad we are starting to see manufacturers updating micros that have been largely the same for 15 years or more until the E10 came out.
ah right .... can see the difference now (y)(y)

It will have to be more than a 008 with a set of servos for it to beat a E10. The 008 I drove couldn't multitask as well as the E10 and was a lot less stable.
Did I read on here that your getting a sub 2 ton jcb? I was eyeing up a new shape 1.5 ton at the local hire place today, It's got some wide looking tracks on it.

One of the things that put me off the tb210r, that and still being 25mm bucket pins. My dx10 is closer to 720mm than the advertised 710mm due to how big the lock holes are for the drop down levers

To be fair the E10 is also a quite a few years old now I'm sure they were 2012 ish.

It's about time other manufacturers started to update designs, at least it's better than their last half baked workaround on the u10.

Can't see why they seem to be 750 or wider for the "micro". Yanmar is also guilty of this their 1t with servos equivalent to the E10/tb210r is 900mm wide 🤔

The ‘larger’ micros tend to have a touch more power. But given that you are usually loading a wheelbarrow, it seems a bit of a naff trade off.

The KX008 isnt a fair comparison to the E10, the U10 is in the same class really. I think what we are ending up with here are 2 classes of micros with what I would call proper micros around the 700mm width, and this new class of sub 800mm micros with 1.5t digging power. The E10 is a really well designed digger - except for its digging geometry which I feel is too compromised, and Kubota have nailed it in this respect. Also, Kubotas micros go on forever with minimal maintenance, whereas a few of you guys on here with E10/DX10's have had issues with low hours. It puts me off even as a JCB man!

Yes I am getting an 18z at the end of the month (with any luck - been delayed once already). The new JCB mini's have some really nice details on them. I've got this one coming with step down track motors - that's an impressive option on a sub 2t machine. I will of course let you know all its good and bad points over the next 10 or more years of ownership.

As I've said before there's micros and 1 tonners now. But they don't have 1.5 tonner digging power.

I've seen a k008 snap in half.

My e10 has been great my dx10 has been back under warranty but for a well known engine issue, kubota engine I might add 😝.

My jcb 8010 still has the edge on power and is slightly narrower still at 700m albeit not zts.

End of the day on a micro its all down to personal preference, we all choose the models we do that suit the general use of it.

When people say that, it's more a comparison to a 1995 1.5tonner.
To be fair the E10/dx10 has no more power than a 2004 tb108 🤔 seems with all the advances they never really gained much, besides being more powerful than whatever they replaced in their own line ups

Ultimately there's only so much power they can handle until their not heavy enough and won't stand their ground. Hence why the as much power as a 1.5 tonner doesn't stack up for me.

Curious here, what do you mean snap in half? nothing that size is built for abuse, there isn’t enough metal in them, whatever make they are.

K008 is 700mm tracks in, or 860 out. The U10-5 and K008-5 have the same engine and power, but the U10 is about 250 kg more. That bit of weight can make a lot of difference when you’re tracking over old slabs or paths. They still haven’t put two speed tracking on the K008. I don’t doubt there are faster machines the same size, but when I go out weekend warrior-ing I charge by the day, not by the cube.

I have to say, I have never been on a JCB I didn’t like from the driver’s seat, (apart from those damn-awful 112 loaders) and if I ever update I’ll be trying a 8008 for fit.

my little Manor walker has far more power and digging ability than the weight (or construction)'ll stand ..... wouldn't take a lot to break it, in the wrong hands ... used carefully it's some digger for what it is

The digging geometry Ollie references is a funny one, and I do wonder how much of it is down to the quick hitch? My E10 is a different animal with a direct mounted bucket, and you never see a quick hitch in any micro promo photos. I reckon a badly designed hitch could really mess up any micro. Excess loadover height is the problem usually.

I do mean auto step down track motors, and I have to disagree Doobin, the 2020 E19 I drove didn’t have that. In fact, spragging power was poor on it and even in low speed it didn’t like turning on grass much. Not so noticeable on the dirt. If I remember, you were waiting for yours which supposedly had an update for better tracking as it was a known issue? Maybe the very latest ones are all better and have the step down motors. It’s a nifty little feature if they do.

Regarding my comment on 1.5t digging power. I guess I still think of a 1.5 as an old 1.5 rather than the modern ones which are nearly 2t! You get what I mean though, there’s 2 classes of micro now really and the bigger ones are encroaching on what used to be a 1.5.

And you have a point Doobin on the quick hitch geometry being a cause for poor load over height. I think the smaller machines suffer more than the big ones in this regard.

....It was better in my day, when a 1.5 was a 1.5, no quick hitches or Netflix in the cab*grumbles*
