Rang my hitachi rep to see how things are coming on and what was ment to be a march delivery is looking like end of april as japan is building them and there at the docks waiting.
They can't get container ships for shipping them around the world
He also said they have stopped taking orders for the rest of this year

Err guys.... JCB only out to April on 1.5 tonners, Factory build would be early Summer. They have just taken on more staff to ramp up production, no border issues, shipping etc. Maybe now is the time we support our British manufacturing industry? Wasn't that part of the Brexit dream?
Or will we all be renewing our BMW's/ VW's this year and complaining about the lead times and price hikes?

Getting plate steel might be an issue also when I went to factory tour couple years ago they were struggling to get staff as they have got anyone in the area working for them already

That's a very good point about waiting. If you're desperate for a digger for upcoming work and need it fast then under current circumstances you'll have to buy what you can get. But ffs if you can wait be patient and buy the one you WANT to own otherwise you'll always be thinking what if. On the other hand you might but something which surprises you long term.

Like I said the jcb 19-c or whatever it is was a great little machine salesmen was great considering my previous experience even the part ex was good just unfortunatly they donāt have lots of the little bits the cat did , admittedly it was cheaper and the dealer is closed but seeing as I only run one machine for myself itās worth waiting for

As a man who manufactured and engineered in the UK and has done some fine work yourself in the past, your view of two of British manufacturingās most successful exports, summed up in that statement, is disappointing to hear.
You own a jcb, thwaites dumper, and several land rover products INCLUDING A P38 Range Rover!
I think you need to reminding what a forward thinking, progressive and leading country we have been in the past when it comes to engineering, and we stand a damn good chance of getting there again one day, but it wonāt happen if people keep the old sayings going, running the UK down, even when the manufacturer has turned a corner.
Kids will grow up believing everything made in Britain is unreliable and poorly made because āthatās what I heardā. They wonāt be interested in becoming an engineer themselves, itās for stupid people who make crap. They will buy German or Japanese, or Chinese - UK manufacturing dies and Iām sure some smart arse will be stood there as the last factory closes saying I told you so - good riddance to UK products, everyone else makes stuff better.
Well I donāt believe the UK is past itās sell buy date yet and whilst the products might not be perfect, I will be buying British where I can, supporting UK jobs and looking forward to the day that our exports are wanted the world over.

I've had enough land rovers, rangies, discos, SD1s and numerous other British vehicles in the last 46 years and taken hundreds of them apart, to make informed comment IMHDO.
A lot of them could have been great, but for corner cutting, skimping and lack of 'interest' in their market.
WTF puts body panels together in primer - LR....
WTF sandwiches ali and steel together with no consideration to cathodic action - LR.
WTF takes anything out the parts bin that'll fit, 'cos it's more convenient than making a better item - LR .......

LRs were always known for their unreliability, fragility (in certain aspects), poor assembly, RUST problems, the list is endless.
yes JakieB is a great old tool ...... on which their reputation was founded along with the old 8 series, etc., that James and many others (me included) has respect for ... pity they didn't carry on as they once did ... building a quality solid product ... that the paint stayed on for 34 years
..... 34 weeks seems to be an achievement these days, from consensus like so much made in the UK the phrase 'could've been great, but for....' .....fits and .........."if the cap fits ...... "

British manufacturing just lost its way and its hunger to produce quality, world leading products - it settled for a mediocre, that'll do/pass muster, attitude.
You and your 8026 have impressed me, as has James' tool too (be nice to see more of James's) .... but how're they gonna look in 20/30/40/50 years time?
