Did you ever get into Aberthaw Aiden? ..... what a s**t hole that was ..... a vast :poop::poop: hole :(

I think I was in the quarry at Aberthaw, and maybe the power station too. Don't remember anything to bad so not the same end as you by the sounds of it.:p

Spend most of my time in the workshop at walters yard, did get out a bit but not as much as the other boys.... mainly on saturdays and sundays when no one else would work:LOL:

yeh the quarry and cement plant down there Aiden .... a sea of slurry in the winter months .... there'd usually be a loader at the workshops, waiting for me, then take that one down to the quarry, a couple of miles and fetch another back ..... was never enough dry ground down there to service/repair 'em and no way could you get the van down there .... bloody horrendous place :(:(

Our local quarry run a Cat - this replaces the one that was loading me in the photo below when I had landy and trailer back in 2007- apart from testing it and setting it up this morning I was his first load (has bloke from cat in with him showing him whats what) - they have had old one for about 13 years and ive never seen a stand in suggesting it was out of action and must have well over 20000hrs (even with France shorter working week ;) )

They’ve got a couple of Cat loaders in a sand quarry we do some work in. They are both less than 5 years old and look brand new. They were both broken down last time I was there though, one with an earth fault in the wiring loom that kept making the machine shut down, and the other one with regen issues. I think they have Volvos coming next....

must admit .... been away from that world a long time, but they were once 'the' tool of choice (y) ...... same as the rest of the world I suppose .... mediocrity sneaks in everywhere and ruins what were once great items, everywhere :(:(

when I worked in the waste company it happened that the caterpillar wheel loader did not turn on, did not intervene the caterpillar deleader technician to reset the computer electronic machine, they are nice but delicate machines, they are agile fast managevoli with much traction and strength , in my country we are poor the biggest and the new car is a hanomag 55 d wheel, we are still at the age of the Neolithic

What man as done, man can do, what never has, maybe
The trouble with them hanomag loaders is the cab is on the front half:unsure: which going forward isn’t a problem but soon catches you out going backwards:oops:

I know, but we take what passes the convent, from us only used machines to be exploited to the bone, when the car is not efficient and it is not worth repairing it or we do not find spare parts the scrap and recycle the parts of the wheel loader as spare parts cannibal type used

as a backhoe for agricultural work in the countryside for farms, what you recommend, with forks to be used as a forklift, to buy used, which makes an economic model that you can find spare parts in case of repairs in the workshop

JCB / Case / New Holland all reasonable brands with good parts networks and if you buy right you will lose very little in depreciation

...... surprised Barra's not looking at Mec.s, as they'm a pretty damned popular, general purpose 'farm' jobbie in the Eu.(y) .... and plenty about over there.
