No idea but just seems to be that way think dumpers are similar in regards to cost vs hire rates. Small plant and tools make them great money though

Thing is a digger might go on hire and work everyday wheras a roller might go on hire for 2 weeks and only do a couple of days work in total. Depreciation is low on rollers as well. I'm not saying its right but it's where hire companies have undercut one another and ended up.

Yes that’s a valid point. Same as a dumper, half the time the house are clocked up by just sitting there ticking over. I presume also slightly less to go wrong on a dumper and roller for a hire company than a digger for your general hirer that thinks hes an expert digger *driver* and flatten his garden or dig a pond.

I was actually thinking of hiring one for a week before committing to buying a new machine with one on. Had the pleasure of 5 mins sitting in a non functioning hire machine at Engcons open day before abandoning that as a bad idea.
If I could hire a fully functional digger with a tilty I'd do it just to quell the urge

Been running some Tilty machines for quite a while. I seem to remember they where in the workshop having new machines when mine was fitted 3 years ago!! Pair of Kubota’s I think it was. 4 or 5 tonners.That name sounds familiar , looking at their website it looks like they have upgraded the fleet

Your memory doesn't deceive you Shaun. They had been running tilties for a couple of years before that, having spotted a gap in the market. Will cover quite a large area, although the radius tends to be limited by the length of the hire.

As said it wouldn't be for the "standard self drive market" it would more be for the guys with a 13 ton Tiltrotator equipped machine that need to use a 3 ton size machine for a week or so and find it hard to use a standard machine.
It seems there would be a market, big question is, would you pay say 30% extra on a standard 3 ton machine?

Aiden @CPS , not sure if you’ve seen this but Kilcock Equipment are now advertising an 8ton for hire with a steelwrist which I believe they’re the agents for.
