Hi all,

So abit like the tittle says, if you could hire a machine with a tiltrotator would you?
Aimed mainly at the boys that already have a tiltly equipped machine?

Conversation came up with a customer last week that has one, but finds himself needing to hire a smaller machine a fair bit.
I asked him if he could hire a 2.7 tonner with tiltrotator on it would he, and he said yes definitely!

Got me thinking as such and thought I'd ask on hear peoples opinion.

Look forward the hearing them

Yes would love to on the basis you’d be able to see what you can achieve with one 👍🏽 Can’t see it not being a bonus only issue is you might have to vet where it goes for the standard drive it like you stole it attitude to hire kit

Don't have one, would be nice to hire/try one but chances are on general hire they would be completely abused by morons with no respect for anything

Yes I would and have for a appropriate task.
The hire company I used to work for have one but it needed vetting where it went to prevent the "let's see how strong it is before I buy one" club hammering it

Part the reason i don't have a tilty yet. Do i put one on the 4 ton or on the 9 ton? So plan is to wait until i can afford to equip both, but as I've already said on the tilty subject there are other things to buy first which would make me more money. I think you'd have to charge a premium hire charge to put the muppets off which may limit the number of folk interested. Having said that at least it would only appeal to those genuinely interested.

Not alot of use hiring a tiltrotator equiped machine if your not used to driving one I wouldn't of thought, most people seem to hate them for a few weeks till they become second nature - im sure you spend the first few days hardly getting the benefit.

But like has been said it might be of interest to someone already running one in a different weight class ..... but enough demand to warrant the outlay 🤔

How better to find out whether you can justify the cost than to try one for a week or two. Tbh a decent op should be able to make use of one quickly.

Thing is decent ops know the benefits without having to hire one 🤷‍♂️

Its ok knowing the benefits but its whether in the 'real world' its gonna benefit your work. I know that realistically due to the work i do and the ground conditions round here I'd probably only have a tilty on a max of 20% of the time. Hence its low down the order. Potentially by trying one would possibly find it would be nearer 40% and so it would become a more worthwhile investment.

It’s something I would probably hire if the option was there. The only problem I can see is I would be wanting to buy one after 😂

Might help you then if thats your circumstance ....... I dont need to hire one to see what it would bring to our scenario.

I think it’s something a few would hire if/when needed but as said if I was hiring it, personally would only be to people I trust or know aren’t going to treat it like a usual hire machine which you get more points the more damage you can do to it!

Also the hire price has to reflect the cost of it, which potentially would be hard to claw back as a hire company 🤷‍♂️ Only need one person to rip off a hose or damage it and probably wouldn’t be worth it. Just my 5pence.

Then again I am OCD with looking after stuff, and even more so other people’s kit. Should always treat it as if it was your own in my opinion, unfortunately not everyone is the same as we all know.

If you`ve got the right job coming up, it might be worth a hire. I find, I tend to think, while doing a job if I had a tiltrotator, would it be easier/quicker/better. A hired one could prove you right (or wrong!)

I don't often hire stuff that often, but this week I`ve had a dumper on hire, and I would like to think it went back better than when a picked it up.

Im sold on them .... and our work is suitable - unfortunately up to now there always seems to be a critical item of plant to change that we cant do without.
Might help people decide though 👍

Ground conditions ?
Can be v stoney and kin hard. I know someone will be along to say the scandis dig in hard ground and never take tilty off but personally i don't see the point in spending that amount of money to needlessly rive hell out of it. I wouldn't be looking to change tilty with digger. As a local potential tilty installer said to me if i take it off when i don't need it on it'll be the only one I'll ever buy.

It's your choice. Personally i can't see the point keeping it on if you're just doing bulk work the extra weight for a start off would be a drawback plus the loss of breakout. If i can bulk out with 3ft bucket without tilty its far faster than using a 2ft bucket with tilty. It isn't specifically hard ground but stoney ground you don't know where they are and often catch with corner of bucket. I just don't see why I'd want to put unnecessary pain through tilty.
