Is the trailer a homemade job or a proper thing? Ie something you’d sell me with knowing me... 😬
haha thought I’d ask, tbh I think my machine with a row of buckets would be abit tight on it.
looking forward to seeking the komatsu live again!

What man as done, man can do, what never has, maybe
Had a few hours on it today (no tune though need to get some radiator hoses as the radiator also has a hydraulic oil cooler so can’t start it without the cooling pack plumbed in😩😩)
did turn it over on the key though👍still a bit of wiring to be done

its is a tight squeeze🤔 this engine is 50mm longer and 30mm higher doesn’t sound a lot but there is just no room

the pump is where it was originally but pushed to the near side a bit, and a bit higher😳

the ‘new’ bell housing is only just missing the oil tank (still got a bit of room for engine vibration 👍 though)
to be fair it sits in quite nicely, had to cut a bit of radiator cowling as the fan is a bit higher but cant lift the radiator as the bonnet will fowl it😩
see what tomorrow brings👍

That looks like it’s supposed to be there.

With all that crazy talk of spending money and rebuilding the old engine you had us worried for a bit.

Thanks for taking the time to post about this.

It really does look made to measure Komatsu obviously weren't ambitious enough 😆.

Has it made the alternator /starter easier to access 😂😂

only took one picture today 😢 but been doing the fiddly jobs like sorting the wiring to the engine🤔 but all sorted now all the lights on the dash come on,
this ‘new’ engine had a hydraulic pump fitted the timing case that worked the conveyor so instead of removing it and having to make blanking plates🤔 decided to pipe it up so I’ve got two way service if I decide to put a rotating grab on it👍 but like anything on this machine had to weld a fitting from the tank outlet so the oil still goes through the strainer in the bottom of the tank and also a return that puts the oil back to tank but through the main return filter
now having a bigger engine is great😆 but no room under the bonnet for the air filter or exhaust😩 so have to think outside the box and engine bay

mock up of the exhaust🤔 will need to do something similar with the air cleaner too

At least then you’ll be able to dig really deep underwater too!

Mog, Is it not likely to be a bit noisy with that exhaust right at the side of your ear?
