Little question which I'm sure you lot will have a streight answer.

I rent some space in a yard which is an operating center, ive permission to park what I like there, so with this in mind I'm going down the o licence route. So my question is...with it already been an operating center does it make the application easier or do I still need to advertise the fact ect ect.

You still have to advertise etc. It will make it easier provided the yard is not overcrowded and the firm you share the yard with is in good repute with the traffic commissioner.

Do not be afraid to ring them and ask.... Great government department that will answer your questions.

Yes but no. In regards to using it as an operating centre, if its already registered then you have piece of mind that no-one will complain against it. But unfortunately you still have to follow the procedure. Dependant what you want to do, you will need your own TM. There are people out there that will do the application for you, and in all honesty for not a lot of money. Other thing to bear in mind is the amount of money you need access to in your business bank account and where it came from. Can't be from loans for example.

You'd be surprised.

TC will accept a credit card for example as financial standing, although they can decline it.

Cash in bank is King mind..... £3100 for 1 lorry on Restricted ATM... (Just renewed mine)

I'd not bother paying someone to do the paperwork, application is easy.

You also need the Maintence provider.

I think the financial requirements have changed recently also.
As said before if it is already an operating center then unlikely they will question the suitability for hgv use but will need to go through the whole process with advertising etc. Also if you don't own the land you need to have a letter from the owner that allows you to use it for an operating center, lease title should do it.

Agreed. But rare if entrance to highway is good and plenty of yard space already. But you never do know until it’s approved.

The yard is plentiful and I've got my area and paperwork to prove it.

Long time since I had much to do with o licence. I'm only intending on running on a restricted o licence which didn't need a transport manager last time I looked.

Basically I'm wanting to put a 4 legger grab on for my own work. I don't get time nor have Interest in moving muck for others.

Also thanks for your offers of help, I'm sure I'll take you up on it . As it'll be the first one ive had sole responsibility for.

just got mine it took about 4 weeks from stat to finish i did all forms my self the hardest thing i found was down loading my add from the paper's web site once you set up your account on line you you need to be .gov verified tack's a minuet or two the money thing can be a credit card with if you are pushed but all in all a lot easer than i thought it was going to be
