I can understand the logic druid problem is where is the evidence we were ever heading for that? All we got was Some scare stories in the press which were proven to be OTT Liverpool had lower ICU occupancy that same time last year.

The true infections are sadly hospital and care home spread due to poor infection control. Obviously this Then gets people who are already Ill.

I said right at the start of all this let's have a look at total death year end 2020.

I'm sorry but they can't claim "excess" deaths when who can cert a death cert has been massively relaxed and all other causes of death are down year on year

We are 427m from the border to Glos where they are tier 2. Makes no bloody sense.

dunno what Herefordshire is, other than England ... 2 miles from us ... and where me mate has his fab biz .. he lives a couple of miles from me, further away from the border, but's allowed to go to work .. can't exactly fab from home .. well he can't ... his gear's all two miles t'other side of the border .... need to go see him shortly for some stuff

They will struggle to get this under control, when hundreds of children are mixing together each day in school.

statistics can be manipulated any way you want them to read Jim ... was listening to some figures on the box this morning, whilst plugged into me Hamster Juice (it's Monday again ), about the States .. we're 68 M pop here ... with a supposed death toll of 50k to date .... the states weighs in at 330M .. just short of 5 times more than us with a death toll of 2.5 Mil. ... that's ten times the proportional rate of the UK ..... and they have over 100M, reported infections .... just short of 1 in 3 of the population ...
extrapolate that backwards, to the UK ... half a million deaths'd make a few more folk take notice here ....... but the systems would've melted down months ago, with 'a ten times' the volume of patients

Happy to report I'm still alive,despite going for meal with friends sat night,drinks n haircut with other friends week end before,done this during both lockdowns,thing is most friends down here in London are front line medical staff,we haven't stopped socialising,and most of them who mention it have no intention of taking a vaccine?

never had a flu jab in me life ... or much of anything else, once I was old enough to make my own decisions ... and I won't be heading up any queues for this one either ... will keep me head down and behave sensibly, as I've done from the kick off .....

Personally I don't mind. I'll probably have it when offered, as due to my job it will probably be mandated sooner or later for the datacentres to allow us in.

I keep meaning to have the flu jab, but never get round to it. Usually by the time I plan to have it, I've already caught the bloody flu that year!

I agree .... one needs to be able to compare all of the figures year on year, historically, to get a realistic picture of the actual truth ... plus it would appear, that as has been discussed here already, death attributable to covid is so wide ranging ... +ve test on the first of the month ... killed by a bus on the 27th .... Covid !!!!! ....... plus as you say just about every Tom Dick Or Harriet can now sign off on a death !

My consultant's been trying to get me to go for a dexa scan for months .... **** going anywhere near a hospital ATM .... the dexa can wait .. as can me regular blood tests .. I feel fine ... I'll have to be feeling a lot less well, 'fore I go anywhere near a covid distribution centre

I will add some fuel to the fire. The Xmas Tree farm, open air of course, had about 200 plus visitors on Saturday. The voluntary mask wearing brigade consisted of 2 people. I know most of the others and chatted about Covid to plenty. Around here, still very few people know someone directly that has been hospitalised with Covid. No one knew anyone that died. I didn’t talk to the mask wearers as I was frightened they where carriers.
I have had one person from the NHS request a private visit which we obliged.
One person asked for help as there husband was isolating......prior to going into hospital for a tumour to be removed....that should have been done months ago.

I certainly don't worry about masks outdoors. The science seems pretty solid on transmission probability. Indoors I comply when in shops, but am not too bothered when in the office (though that is rare)

Just using this as reason to push for keeping importing east Europeans,keeping rates down I reckon,not seen sign of anyone sitting home on big jobs I've been on,mostly east euros n Indians though through'inclusivity'

Oh and the fact that by using subbies rather than employees they've not had to worry about sick pay holiday pay pensions contributions etc and could hire and fire as they please without consequence.
