Hi All,

I’m trying to get my head around which laser level to get. It’s to be used with and without machine.

I’ve been looking at the 810, I’ve since realised the 800 series has now been superseded with the CLH and CLA range which is upgradable if and when required but huge price jump.

Some good deals on 600 series but not sure this is what im after.

What are others using? How you find them?

It depends what features you want
We have the 620's where I work mostly
The only thing they do is a grade function and even then I rarely use it
I definitely wouldn't need all the other functions as we have setting out engineers for anything important
But do you need the 90 degree setting out function and so on ??
I find more important than the laser is the receiver make sure you get one with the digital readout
If you haven't used one before they are brilliant and can speed up most jobs by knowing how much you are out rather than either guess how high you are or trying to hover the staff to see how low you are
Also good for pooling concrete as you don't have to dip the staff in the concrete if it's high or even make a square of plywood with Barton coming up from it and let the receiver float on the concrete to save a laborer

Does it have the be Leicia? Plenty of other brands out there that do the same job for less money.

I guess I'm in a similar boat to you, was my first 'proper' level. I wanted something that would do dual grade and a machine receiver. Ended up with a Fukada 203 with wall bracket, mm receiver and an additional CR600 machine receiver.

My only complaint would that the remote control for the laser is awkward.

Oh, actually, I do have another complaint. A big one. I paid £1555 inc VAT for that lot with a Plant Talk discount only three months ago. Just got the exact same kit. Good folk to deal with as well.

Yep really helpful, I think they’ll even come out and do demos of the kit to show you how to use all the features if needed

Here's one I marched down the cash point earlier...

Mind you, I had done her a really nice job. That's her son in law she's handing the money over to check, he's building her a granny annexe! Dug out a hole for the soakaway and chamber.

The kit you purchased was a configured True grade laser with lots of options. It's called the Fukuda FRE-203XT and is the one where you can key in values into the face of the laser and set a gradient.

The link you posted and the comments with the pricing was for the baby bother laser kit - the Fukuda FRE-203XR which is a grade facility laser. Not a true grade model.
Sadly you selected the wrong kit for your comparison.

You've been good to deal with in the past and fixed my NivComp no bother when it messed up. That's another great bit of gear for anyone looking for mm precision, especially on landscaping projects when you may not always have line of site.

Can't remember what make it is. Very early unit that was on a Roadless 75 from new could well be a shelton.

Was the right money and the MF65 will just about run it. So we will tidy it up and put it in storage
