Hello All, I've been demoing a 1cxt, and have some thoughts to share, and I'm looking for some feedback.
Loader:
The loader is a mixed bag for me, It does not lift as high as a traditional skid steer, and so far in my experience, it is much more difficult to grade with Than a normal skid,
at least with the silly bucket it comes with. The lift capacity has been a pleasant suprise however, I have seen it lifting 2 tons of stone no problem, this is a big advantage for unloading trucks of pipe, stone, and sod. On many of my Civil sites, we don't have room for loaders, but need to unload concrete structures and pipe often.
The Backhoe:
The backhoe is Great, the controls are smooth, and it has plenty of reach, my one gripe is the backhoe boom lift is lacking on power, and a large grading bucket, or heavy attachment is a challenge at best. The side shift is a fantastic feature, and I find it easy to use. The stabilizers are nice to use, and have a good throw, although the levers are a bit strange.
I really Like how you can drive the machine from the backhoe position, however Its very awkward to hold the trigger and top button at the same to make it work.
Overall I feel this machine is a revolution in machine design, and potentially a new category of machine, rather than a "one off" It is not really a compromise In the skid steer department, and although the backhoe is not a 360, it is VERY good and its versatility easily makes up for any in convince, it is a perfect pair with My 1.8 ton excavator for residential work.
I feel there a couple must haves, if you order one however. You NEED a true long bottom Skid steer bucket, especially a 4 in 1, It makes grading a joy, and you can see the cutting edge easily.
On the backhoe I am standardizing my machines and Using an S30 coupler on it. I may add DC2, so it can use a tilt-rotator, but that is very big maybe. more likely i will just use a tilt coupler, with buckets for grading, or a normal rotator, to set rock with a grapple. Im very keen to try it with a laser grade box, and 6 way blade.
What do you all think? Is it a mistake to spend the same price on a dedicated skid steer on a multipurpose tool? How would you use it in your Business?
