I think wacker do a 30kn at 600 wide but the extra weight and cost put me off when i looked into at if I remember

Have you thought any more about this @doobin? Same as you. Just need something for occasional use, I hire the big 120 rollers if I’m doing a new path or car park. (Although in some scenarios I find the steel tracks on my Kubota put it down as well as anything) But I digress, did you end up getting a F/R plate? I think for sheer convenience they take some beating, and even fairly large jobs it’s surprising how much ground you can cover with them. Just not sure what model to go for now- think Lumag will be perfectly good enough for my needs.

Haven’t thought about it recently as haven’t needed one. Still waiting for lumag to give a vibes figure by the looks of it...
Vibes on my lumag dumper are nasty if you run it flat out. Not keen on a plate if it’s going to be similar and would have to be flat out to work. Price is right though, but doI just spend the same on a second hand bomag? But they are usually f***ed I suspect.

Yes, don’t think I’d really want to buy used tbh. Looking at specs. Lumag 160kg f/r plate is chucking out 4810vpm. The equivalent (although slightly smaller) Bomag is 5100vpm. But I suspect these figures mean nothing if the dampening to the operator is poor.
I haven’t had a price on a new Bomag to be fair but unless it’s only a few more hundred over the Lumag it starts to become a fair whack of money for occasional use. I didn’t really want to spend more then £1500 tops really.

From my dealing with Lumag some of the info we get is a bit hit and miss. I was told unoffically that they tested them on concrete? or something and the numbers are not great . That said we have never had a complaint from anybody we have sold to, perhaps we dont sell to enough. We dont really stock plates much any more as they are far to wildly available anywhere and the margins are not worth it depending how its sold.

I ended up just going for the 100kg forward Wacker plate. At £650 it’s not going to take many times where I would have had to hire to pay for itself. @doobin the vibrations on this model are not too bad but worse than the Belle plate I normally hire. I used it for an hour today and definitely had some tingling- but I found it bearable and in fairness the track was pretty steep so meant I had to push it quite hard witch made vibes worse.
seems well built enough, loncin engine sings a tune. The forward motion could be more ‘forward‘. But pretty pleased with it altogether- I would/will probably look more closely at Bomag etc if I was going to be spending big money on a top end forward reverse plate though, but I really only use one a few times a month if that.

Recently purchased the Wacker Neuson VP2050A plate which is also 100kg at approx £950 - superb bit of kit. I bought from a company Causeway Plant Ltd who have provided excellent help and advice in ensuring I bought the correct plate for the work I undertake. Impressed me with their next day service and I must say after hiring an equivalent belle plate this one runs a lot smoother but then we all know what hire kit can be like.

That sounds good value for a Wacker Neuson. The Lumag is pretty good to be fair for £650 and end of the day it compacts as well as any thing else I’ve used in that weight category, but some things are a bit ‘chinese’ on it. I expect the Wacker is more refined in that sense.

The Lumag is very decent for the ££ and I think a lot of things are chinese nowadays. Until you spy a true Chinese cheap plate which is what I was expecting when we became dealers they are far from it but still price considered offer good value

Yeah I have no real issues with it and pleased as punch with it really. The reference to chinese was for eg the handle bars when bolted on were not square to the machine- just visual really but does look like it’s been a bit bent but came out the packet like that. Also would prefer it if the sides of the actual plate were bevelled up a bit to reduce digging in when used on a bit of a side slope etc. The Loncin is a dream.
