Now I know this man through a friend.... I highly doubt he's anything but strait. What is happening will likely f**k his business over completely, no explanation or warning other than there are investigating his account for fraud.

Its a very good reason to run with 2 bank accounts.

Banks are robbing c u next tuesdays and try to talk to someone to get an answer/help...not a prayer

On the other hand if there account was the target of fraud and NatWest did nothing we would be blaming them
It is not unknown for genuine accounts to be hacked and used for fraudulent purposes therefore perhaps we need to wait for either the other side of the story or for more information
This is one of those cases where both sides could be in the right

As I said they may be investigating the account rather than the account holder
I know several people that have there accounts hacked and used for for criminal activity
The owner of the account may be as clean and pure as the driven snow but if the account has been used for fraudulent activity with or without the account owners consent then it will be frozen then it will be frozen
It says in the original post there is no correspondence so therefore we definitely don't the full story yet
And when it comes to my seen day fraud it is far more complicated than most can imagine

Saw this on FB,seem like a good firm, work all over sorting scrap handlers n heavy plant, even just self employed,I've 2 business n 2 personal bank accounts plus, cash just in case,no idea about the cause of stopping their account, but I'd never go with just one bank, don't trust em

Don't complain - suggest what's better
The trouble is the bank will drag its heals sorting it out. My guess would be a suspicious transaction has flagged up (often foreign currency trnasfers) which the bank can be prosecuted for as well as the individual if it were say terrorist related. A few hours dealing talking to the customer and they should be able to prove it is genuine or not, but going on past cases they will go skint over it as no other bank will touch them (even if you had another account).
It is a shame when people get scammed and they realise the banks are quite happy to let the scum drain the bank account because it doesn't affect them legally.

Banks are a joke, started a new business up of my own, wanted to open an account with bank of Scotland who i have banked personally with for 12 years plus. They are not taking new accounts due to COVID 19, been this way for well over 14 weeks.

Not really their fault in this case mate, it's an unprecedented situation, most of their staff are trying to work from their bedrooms and they are facing a deluge of new business account applications from every man and his dog trying to score a 50k bounce back loan!

I recognise the name very well. Some might say similar to my own lol. I got my identity stolen a few years ago and the bank and phone company I spoke to were very good. Taking my word for it and immediately sorting it all out. Probably a complete ball ache if it happens on the business banking side though seems to be regulated very differently to personal accounts.

Doesn’t help an honest man trying to set up a small company, not looking for loan, or an over draft or any kind of grant just an account. Plenty of people in branch when I went in to enquire about it.

TSB is the only bank taking new accounts, ended up just opening another personal account for the time being and will hopefully have it converted at a later date.
