Air conditioning

Every summer I think about fitting air conditioning to my mini digger. I really need to operate with the cab closed because of contaminated dust. I have a couple of 12v fans which help, but it is still too hot for a lot of the year. Has anyone retro fitted it to theirs?
I don’t really want a roof mounted unit for fear of knocking it off. I saw this wall mounted truck unit

Looks good apart from being roof mounted. I would prefer rear window mount to reduce the chances of damaging it.

If you're looking at electric options check how many amps they need.

I had thought of that, but now had time to check and it is only a 40amp alternator and need a minimum of 75a, so will have to look to see if it is feasible to fit a larger one in the space. It is very cramped, hence looking to fit an electric self contained unit rather than go down the belt run compressor route.

The roof top ones made for machinery and able to put out a positive pressure cab to keep the dust out seem the way to go. May just have to protect it with some roof bars. Somewhere to hang extra lights on I guess.

A little Kubota 3 cylinder 1.1 litre

Roof mounted all in one is by far going to be cheapest and easiest to fit. Put a frame around it to protect it. Simple plug and play once you cut a hole in the roof. At 3amp max rating your existing alternator should be fine.

Seeing as they are quite small units it may be worth having a slight tint or mirror film applied to the windows or atleast the back one
I drove 2 identical tractors earlier in the year one with tint one without and it really did makes a difference to the effectiveness of the air con

3 amp would be good, but it is running off shore power - 240v mains hook up. Not that viable for me.

That does sound like quite a challenge.
The cooler is going to take rather a lot of the engine power you have particularly if the air con demand coincides with the hydraulic demand.
I'd be wondering about using a hydraulically driven fridge pump with the digger functions taking priority.
