I'd be guessing it'd be a case of out with the old .. in with some new kit ..... the CNC stuff is all 13 yrs old, a long time in that field and has probably produced vast numbers of components in their time ... tired and old hat now.

see the auctioneers have come up with yet another money spinning idea,:( on top of buyers premiums, indemnities, etc. ...... loading charges ... and some quite substantial charges at that ... greedy bastards :mad:

I’ve noticed Most of them don’t even allow you to move your purchased items at all, you have to pay for removal no matter what. We were trying to buy an overhead crane from a workshop in Leeds which had this deal and they wanted £4.5 grand to take it out. Rip off . And there is nothing you can do about it. Needless to say we walked away.

their greed will kill off auctions all together, if they keep up with these money making 'extras' schemes

The loading charges could work in your favor if you just sent haulier into collect stuff for you and saves you arranging moving it from the workshop to loading area yourself .

The size and weight makes a big difference as to its value ,

But as most industrial premises would need a method statement and risk assessment to even get out of a van you can price the moving and lifting into the machine price for larger stuff when you bid , at least that way you are not held to ransom once you bought it and the "approved contractor" on the site shafts you for moving something when you have no option and tight timescale to have it shifted

Trouble is if you are not there witness the lifting and loading there'll be some damage happen to the machine or guards or a vital part goes missing and the loading company blame the haulier and the haulier blames the removal team and you end up going round in circles and have to pay the repairs out your own pocket. 😤

I'd certainly agree with you on the bigger stuff ..... saves a lot of hassle, for bidding on a remote auction, but the charges are still pretty high for what is basic skate and lift items, if you aggregated them. For one off items, not so bad .... 600 quid for the press brake is, TBF, a good price onto transport (y) .... especially as they would be responsible for any damage, as they're charging for the service ;) and as you say you bid accordingly, knowing the fixed cost of loading it .
Silver lining to every cloud :giggle:

You still after one??, I know where there is one but it’s up in Scotland. It’s a 20ton lift Demag.

20ton is a bit big for us, we’re shopping for an 8-10 ton range 14M span.
And by the way how far up in Scotland is it?

We were looking at one we could possibly modify to suit our situation but nowadays with certification required your kinda stuck going to the people who deal them. not saying they do a better job of it but somewhere in their filing cabinet they will have a certificate the says they can do it. or at least they should:unsure:

if you're looking at shortening one down, as long as the end joint is faithfully reproduced and welded to a proper standard, it shouldn't be a problem getting it re-certified. Most testers should be able to do it .... Andy's mob for instance, or anyone offering lift testing/certification (y)
Low head rooms are usually a T joint and are more critical than a beam lapped on top of the travelers .... not beyond the wit of man :) ...... always remember .... someone made it originally ... it can be done ;) (y)
