What would be the general use of one, over say an angle grinder or a die grinder? Normally I'd use an angle grinder and a die grinder and that covers almost all situations I've come across so far.

grinding inside large holes/pipes/etc. and casting fettling too .
I once spent close on two weeks grinding some bushes in a clamshell grab ... that'd been machined undersize by mistake ...the holes were 7" dia and 9" long .... or were supposed to be .... were an 1/8" under in the bore .... the grab shell was 9 ton .. and a bit of a faff to return to the horizontal borer .. 'specially as there was another job already in it ... I got given the job as they considered I was the most likely to do a decent job ... and least likely to jack ... I came close after spending 8 days on it .. .... but did get the pins to fit and the clam to go back together ........as said "hateful things .... spent a fair bit of time wielding one "

It looks to be worn to me, the distance where the pin would sit looks more than the opening at the front of the hitch.

That looks like a knackered 3cx pickup (45mm pin) hitch to me is it a spring lock hitch?

are those the ones you put on an inflatable hub Mike ... never tried one but looks good ... 36 grit'd have that out in minutes
