Reckon the scammers be milking it all somehow... Parcel companies not requiring signatures etc etc...and I bet there's about a million new companies just opened in Blackburn with about 500 employees each ready to close and claim 80% from gov..Mr khan and Patel gonna have a heyday round here...

Read (possibly on here actually) about a couple of women going door to door elderly homes saying they are from the council.
Taking bank cards off the old folks to go a buy groceries etc for them... cleared the accounts out and disappeared. Lowest of the low.

Spend 4 hours getting kit off other jobs as it looks to be going south fast after grocklegeggon... Return to site dig a footing and get a phone call....
The virus can live for 72hrs.... Can I dig the joint pit Friday, road plate it and then they connect Monday no issues..... Er not safe to do that....
Ring jointers agree a method involving disinfectant... No bother that's next Monday's plan!

Well I made a call this morning to cancel a strip out job worth about £200k 
but think my health and my family is more important at the moment, hopefully as the building is being sold it may all be knocked back a few months so may have another bite at that cherry

Yes but we are only testing those whos symptoms are so bad they end up in hospital. It's not indicative at all of the wider situation. You might even arrive at a similar number if you take those who get regular flu so bad they end up in hospital, and then test/count the dead.

Tbh I'd rather self isolate but I'm currently on the emergency reactive team for the county's highways so I can't see us stopping as the roads still have to be kept in a usable state even if the planned work stops
But can't do half the work if there are no materials available

This late announcement seems like bad news to me. Why leave it so late - so everybody is home from work and lockdown starts immediately?
Got one load home this evening, just the digger to go and Ive left the trailer hooked up outside home in case I have to make a dash for it this evening.
A delayed stay home till tomorrow evening would be preferable so I can shut the site up properly and tie up some loose ends.
