so .... alternate fuels ??

" Specialist contractor fuelled by veg oil "

and energy savings ??

bet it ain't bio-degradeable though

aye ..... bitterly regret selling it ...... chassis no 964, 1970 on a J plate .. one previous owner ... an aircraft engineer who was fanatical about it .... had two lever arch files of history with it and a box full of receipts for petrol    ..... he kept everything to do with it ... and a meticulous log of every thing ever done to it, as though it was an aircraft maintenance log.
IIRC it was about1900 quid and change when he bought it..had the original receipt ...
came from Branksome .. a customer of mine put me on to it ... his Uncle's, who had died and it was in bits, when I collected it .. put it back together and used it for a couple of years ... drove like a new one ..
when they came out, any Giles that bought one, after a SII must've thought they'd died and gone to heaven :giggle::giggle:
When they first came out a mates dad sold his before it was even built so called doubled his money and a bit more then went back on the waiting list, apparently it was relatively common thing at the time.

Battery technology isn't good enough anyway and the step forward needed doesn't look close. Some kind of fuel cell tech is gonna be the thing long term i think

Don't get why hydrogen fuel cells were dropped for battery bullshit more so in large kit that has room for it and only emissions is water
my guess would be safety Stu ..... hydrogen is one of the most volatile elements on the planet

So is a broken fuel line and a source of ignition if conditions are right
Have you seen all the let's crush a Lithium battery vids on YouTube
Need to perfect on-demand hydrogen systems so it's just a tank of water and small amount in converter and fuel lines

agreed ..... the batteries are just bombs in a n other guise ....
petrol is no where near as potent as H2 , but the current fuel containments are a joke ... either plastic or tin ...
at least an LPG gas tank is 5mm thick with auto shut off systems .. NG tank is 8mm ... assume H2 would be of similar substantial build to stand the pressures.

on demand from H2O would be the ideal system for sure (y)
but current H2 systems are pressurised storage of pure hydrogen

I think there has been technology developed with hydrogen power, that literally is filled up with water. But there’d be no money in the fuel then, would there.....
do a bit of digging online and I think you will find that some very clever people have designed and developed these things, but their ideas have been squashed by the powers that be, as theres obviously a LOT of money at stake, many of these brilliant designers have met with unfortunate accidents.....

If i could answer that i wouldn't be digging holes for a living
well while you're sat pulling the sticks and contemplating that question ... give some consideration to - how to recycle tyres ... you don't have to do it, just come up with a great idea, on how and sell that .... first one to come up with a solid, profitable, simple solution will be a billionaire ;)

How do you split the hydrogen from the water without electricity?

No such thing as a free lunch.
This is where green energy is coming into play. Apparently they are taking up the surplus at certain times of the day to make the process cheaper.

Yes but then you have to have the hydrogen in a tank on the car- in relation to Left Hookers comment about on-demand hydrogen systems.

If you're splitting hydrogen from water then you need electricity at the same place, and surely you'd just use that then? Unless I'm missing something.

Think air products produce hydrogen. Think they fetch it from Belgium. Some buses use it in London

It was a while ago that I heard about this but it is making a lot of progress.
interesting read Shaun ... electrolysis would look to be the best and most efficient, if ultra cheap leccy can be used .... but gaseous H2 is massively risky for handling and storage
