Motorbikes -10k in the garage instead of 100k - no traffic issues (y)
Lost my bike mojo some how, I blame the boy. I really need to make the effort to do some enduros this year.

Yep you got to keep at it ..... Only roadbike and trials nowadays - Trials is great fun on these modern bikes and a proper technical challenge without too much risk.

Never ridden bikes other than a pit bike when I lived on a farm. Fancy doing my bike test this year though!

wasn't quite accurate with the 3-ish years ... probably longer .... aside from riding a K100 brick back from Lydney, for Alex about 18 months ago ... and a pleasure that was too ...... really ought to get summat ride-able this year :giggle:

I like cake
I have wanted motorbikes for years. There small, well priced, fast and I love the community that you get. Given the cost of them I would likely have a couple of older ones like the old 1990s cbr1000 and then a newer one, a upright one and a older old one. Probably only need 25k to have all that too. 😅
Sadly I wouldn’t risk my life in such a way just far to many accidents and often not the bikers fault.

Donorcycles to be avoided at all costs. Too many left hand drive wagons with no road sense

Non motorcycle riders are bound to have your (valid) rationale.
But for lots of people it's part of your life , I got my first bike at 7 and my dad rode and my sister still rides.
On the road if you ride like everyone is trying to Kill you it goes some way to reducing risk but of course it can and does happen - most bikers have lost friends me included.
I would strongly advise against anyone taking it up later in life as you will lack the instinct/ reflex that might save your life in certain circumstances ... and modern kit is properly rapid.

totally agree (y)... been riding since I was 9 .... it's instinct that keeps you alive mostly ... every ones a potential killer -- including some other 'bikers' too:oops: .... we have a minimum fatal a week round here in 'the season'..... seeing the way some of 'em ride, I'm surprised it's not 10 a week:unsure::rolleyes:

couldn't agree more ... finding the time to sort summat is the issue .. and then finding the spare time to use 'em ...... I do miss riding ... A LOT :(
have even weighed up whether i could get away with just buying summat for 'the season' ...... but i do have rather a lot sat already ;) ..... an' she knows where they're sat :(

GL1500 Wing ... bought it '09 to replace me Z1300 - 6 Touring, water cooled that Pam didn't like the pillion on  ... should o' just stashed the big Zed and added the Wing to the collection.:cry: she'd have been exempt in March
took the Wing to Montpellier a few weeks later :giggle: for a couple of weeks in a Villa, flew the rest of 'em down and hired a car for 'em

Called it The Ghost ... can't hear it coming. ☺ it's the only bike i've ever owned where front tyre noise is an issue  and the only bike i've ever owned where the rear has outlasted the front o_O but i do push it along

a real mile muncher .. ex California - mint.

FJ 1200 Yammy ... happy birthday to me in '89 ... took it to Le Mans a few days later ... nothing passed me all the way there or back :giggle::giggle: and had great fun with a boat full of Lambo Countachs coming out of Le Havre, heading for Club De L'Ouest offices in Allencon .... 14 Countachs cranking up in a car ferry belly has to be one of life's best experiences to date :giggle::cool:(y)

four Z1000ST s .. one I've had since it was 11 months old and been all over Europe on it .... it's just become 40 this month
COL D'ISERAN 1983-3.jpg

took the lowers off it to help with the heat, 'fore I went .... and mother put 'em out for the bin men while I was away  FlowlineFabrications no longer exist :( but I have a full colour matched factory Vetter Windjammer for her next time she gets some attention -- I will never part with this one. that pic is '83 and my first foray into France ... absolutely loved it and have been back many times ... was planning on retiring there ... 'til 2010 happened - the frogs ain't gonna pay for me pills & enzymes.

its last foray into Europe was 1990 ... did 6.5k on it in just under 5 weeks (extended hol - biz was dead) and set my personal best on her of 987 miles in a day
the Meztler ME99 on the arse was looking a tad thin when I got back home, but rideable (in the dry)

Another complete shafty i bought as a spares/repairs which ran like a watch so decided against stripping it ... and two other shafties in boxes awaiting 'attention' and a few odd bits :giggle:

An XT 600 Tenere Yammy .... very nice ride .... all the XT 500 should have been and wasn't ... had a few of them too
sold my RD 400 in '18 after being mythered for it ... space was handy, but shouldn't have done it :censored: Stan Stevens race tuned motor in it .. 'twere quick

Kawi KLX 250 .... bought from a mate who'd had it from new and was short of money ... he has first refusal if i ever part with it ... really nice little ride .. he only ever used it for time trials and enduros and done less than 6k ......I used to campaign a 350 and 250 KTM air cooled s and a couple of Hodna CR 250s .... they were wicked ... but tremendous fun ....... if a section didn't look do-able I'd just scream FIVE at the marshals and gun it :LOL:

SWM Gori 320 twin shock trials with a disc valve Rotax ... what a lovely motor .. another 'keeper'
and that's about it ATM for the current 'stable'

had to have a cull back in 2013/14, before me boxes came home and outed a Monty Cota 250 and a 350, a nice 250 Suzy Beamish trials, an Ossa 250 and my old 220 Cotton with a Minarelli motor ... loved that old girl ... never owned a Bultaco Sherpa though .. me mate I rode with had one and i could never get on with it

the most regretted victim of the cull was my Matchless G80S Jampot 500 :cry:

Wow fair collection - cant compete with that - I have had a long list of bikes with one or two outstanding ones but never more than two at once.... never had enough money :)

Cool photo of the Zed on the Col -well kitted out luggage wise - were you camping ? esp like the ladies red handbag and you in trainers and a pisspot
83 is a bit before I made my first trip out to france on a bike, my first time would be in 89 I think on a new Yam FZ750........ best hols I ever had - motorbike/young woman on the back/money in your pocket/no work for 2 weeks and french roads with no speed cameras waiting ...... happy days :)
