What happened to that case? I thought you bought it to replace the duck? Or have I got that the wrong way around?

For your work I can see the versatility of a thumb- or oilquick! Carrying an extra attachment with you down miles of track is a right PITA also.
Case came first then the duck although had both together for a while. Sadly case was still on footpedals for grab and rotate but I'd have another in a heartbeat if I was buying 8t again

He did the traditional Storrsy shuffle.... Having brought the Case he got depressed looking at it each time he went in the yard.... Then he brought the duck on impulse. However he's impatient and driving on the road at cycling speed made him sad along with the worrying threat of needing to leave bed before 8am to get to work 🤣

So he got rid of the case, immediately had a job for it and had to hire a digger.

Trouble with the stuff both me and him do is it does pay to have your own..... But it hurts when your transporting them weekly as it is cheaper to hire with transport for a couple days.

I'm lucky to have space of my own which Storrsy doesn't.... Although I have a lot sat around..... Probably well over X sat doing Fk all because I can. Should probably buy a house 🤣

Out of bed by 8.30 this morning! The irony is I used the money I got for the case to pay off what left I owed on my house! Much sooner that then have machines rusting away in the yard- boring I know!

I'll be surprised if I went down owning an 8 tonner again. I hire them in fairly frequently but customer pays the hire and means an easy day/week sitting on a machine I dont have to worry about, would sooner put the money into towable stuff which earns which I get better returns from and no hassle area going transport

I hear you, but I really like owning an 8 tonner with extras like the rotating grab, TAB and wide tracks. Makes my jobs much easier.

Yeah that's the trouble with hiring- your getting a bucket and that's it. Tbh the biggest trouble isn't owning the machine it's getting it moved. There's no local lorries up here so becomes an expensive business getting one from off the moor, then finding suitable routes for the lorry to get it as close to site as poss etc.

Tree shear never got mounted, maybe im lazy or a bit of a butcher (or both) but gripper was perfect for the bamboo in clumps, bringing roots every time and loading direct in skip, then snapped off branches off the small trees to come out, loaded them with gripper and then urooted stumps with ripper tooth.
7 loads to tip which was farmers field round corner :)

Seems the trend is to have loads of kit for every occasion, when ive gone the other way, sold the 8t replaced it with something handier to move, which in reality doesn't give a lot up to a -3 8t Kub, and very very rarely use the littler machines, never need transporter and have a skip you can put on the deck and muck away /aggs in.

I know truck ownership a but trickier in u.k but I honestly do not understand why more dont run the same setup, hard to beeat for a have a go at most jobs little setup.

If I was doing it again i'd go no top hitch,ec oil and a dedicated grab for occasional use.
