Yard day today, pissing wet outside.

I lit the yard stove and turned the sofa electric blanket on. Little fucker hasn’t moved once except two minutes to check his food bowl.

Proper job mate. VA makes a good difference with the stack height of the grab doesn't it? Looks like you could have yourself a rotator on it now also!
TBH it's no different; full stick on the 175. I'm still not convinced on it and I don't think the TAB/Long Dipper combination actually helps it.... Short dipper perhaps, but pulling the TAB is a bit pointless as your digging in the cab.
But very pleased with everything bar stability. Picks up my buckets etc fine I suspect its more thirsty than the TB175 however. Lighting package is spot on and it is a nice place to spend the day.
I do dislike the user interface... and I really dislike the short feelingless blade lever.
Won't be having a rotator..... May possibly have something else.

Don’t the stubby numb blade lever on the 50 either!

Something else, you say?

Surely that’s the point of a tab, gives you the working radius of a smaller machine close in? I find it really really useful.

Yes.... Until the reality dawns that close in the dipper is hitting the deck without trying..... If it had an extra meter on the TAB horizontal, it might be useful.
BUT the geometery isn't as wank as the Kubota or Hitachi.... so there are small mercys.

My jcb just feels like the e27 close in. Surprisingly useful. Most of the time I use the extra lift height with the grab though.

yeah the blade could be better - iirc you cant cover it with the the hand on the lever, or maybe you can with a thumb, and it lacks feel, maybe needs an extension and a doobin style sock :) either way it shows me its a decent machine when blade lever gets mention :)
with tilty on i can dig under myself or reach out far enough that if i fill scandi with sand and go out full reach in face shovel mode it will pick a track up so not sure more reach would be any use, tomorrow ive got the 300tmk on, its only low stuff but I imagine that tab would be usefull uphigh, after that 🤷‍♂️

He hinted there was an attachment other than a grab coming. Unrelated, sorry.
Hopefully a thumb, then no need to keep swapping over attachment just to clear some brash/rock or whatever. I've been doing a doing a job this week with my wacker/grab it's been doing my head in how many times I've had to swap from bucket to grab

That's what I liked about the mono boom on my Case. The working range meant I could swing a bucket in a tighter radius than my 3 tonner. With the stick next to you instesd of in front of you made it superbly well balanced- could sing a hymn that machine.
