Fully agreed.

I've a suitcase 3kv Hyundai at home which Is incredibly handy and simple. Once I'd swapped all the crappy lines out for Decent etc stuff and binned the battery 🤣🤣
That and a DJI 1000 power bank means I'm good indefinitely..always have 20L of E5 as well.
Always keep 20 L of drinking water. Plus we've got one of them mini filtration bags.
Always have plenty of gas on hand. I'm not a prepper but it's common sense if you live in the sticks I reckon.

A 48-hour power outage is a good way of testing your metal. It's surprising how many things rely on 240.
Communications is quite a big one, so starlink is a good help. Most mobile networks are only good for 24 to 48 hours. Max
I like the look of the DJI power pack. Need to do some research on how much juice it wants to charge and how fast it will charge off a 900w.
Think it would run the house essentials and fridge overnight happily.
I have looked at solar PV and batteries but not sure how well some work in power cut scenarios.

We have LPG room heater and LPG hob which proved bloody handy with no power. Hot water would have been nice though.

I think the dewalt ones are quite popular in America. Apparently they regularly get blackouts in places there? I've seen 2 different kitchen fitters on site here with them in the past. Plug a load of their flex volt batteries in and they're good to go. Both imported them from the States. Do they work on a lower voltage out there in homes?

Could be one to consider if your firm runs flex volt dewalt gear

With recent elctrical outages, had to use one of the Honda 2000i generators. It was sufficient to keep the treatment plant pumping, and a light or two. None of the phones work and mobile signals are rubbish here. Biggest problem was not being able to boil the kettle (3Kw). No power for the oil boilers of course, but a least we have a log burner. Although two generators can be paired, I have yet to try it. Kept the fridge and freezer doors closed. Will have to get some sort of gas ring to use with the bottle, ready for next time.
The Honda is very quiet and burbles away almost unnoticed.
What is surprising is the Big Push to get everything electric. It is only when you have none, you realise how much we depend on it already.

Oil boiler needs very little electric to run? Or was it just that you don’t have a changeover switch ?
