oh dear , can you tell us what’s gone wrong? Or is it a delicate subject?
To keep it short the 1st machine we had the bucket wasn’t level to the machine, the new replacement we just got engine keeps stalling something to do with the hydraulics and the arm movements are far from smooth very erratic.

Interesting you say that, had a gang on one of my jobs last year, they had an E27, I never saw it, so it could have been a Z.? They got a loaner E26 from the dealer, as their new 27 had a twisted boom. Well thats what they thought anyway, up shot was, as you say, bucket not level! A long way out buy what they said. I think they assumed it was the boom, I suppose it could have been the dipper, king post or even the main frame? They waited literally months for it to be sorted, story was that they couldn’t supply parts because they were all the same, twisted! What a clusterfuck!

I assume the current machine is under warranty? What’s the dealer say about it?

The dealer had been very good on sorting the 1st problem out I can’t comment at the moment on the problems on the replacement one as we are waiting for them to come out.
The big problem is Bobcat UK they really don’t give a s##t about there customers.

It isn't as easy as this. It depends how its funded
surely though Ross in a situation where there is an obvious massive defect, the manufacturers would be responsible for all on costs attached ... good brief required or a new replacement machine fit for purpose ...... like buying a car where the doors won't stay shut

If the machine is on finance then you tell finance company its not fit for purpose n they have to sort it for you....as technically they own it. Simillar to buying stuff on credit cards, where when it goes wrong the credit card comp has to sort it out.

Wow, and everybody tells me JCB have problems........ I hope you get your machine sorted ASAP. You buy new to try and avoid issues and things do happen but its how the dealers respond that buys the 2nd machine.
Thinking about it, a tiltrotator would sort the twisted boom problem right out 😆

Its still not as straight forward as the fit for purpose argument, there are counter arguments however correct. The finance company almost mediates.

It may make them stand up mind you!

Had the mechanic out to my E27 yesterday. It kept throwing an error code when I put the arm down, apparently this was because the aux switch was engaged (it wasn't). He fiddled and replaced the console bearing, reckoned that sometimes sorted that issue. If not then apparently he'll replace the rocker switch.

He also sealed a major leak in from the back of the cab (grommet) and found a slight weep from a hydraulic connection under the engine.

Most interestingly, I mentioned it being tricky to grade with- the boom rises much faster than the dipper pulls in. He said there'd been a few similar issues and he thought the left joystick had a mod or was replaced under warranty on a few. Anyhow he rang another Bobcat mechanic and the upshot is I'm getting a new bit of some sort. Might be of interest?

Hi thanks for the info and yes your right there is mod for the joystick.
I had bobcat out this week I wasn’t there to see him but he reckons the problem was the fuel filter was piped up the wrong way round I just can’t believe something like that could happen and not get picked up honestly the build quality is just atrocious.

They will definitely stand up, just tell them the situation and say your not prepared to pay for it, as has been said, they own it.
Had a problem with my first machine, it turned up with no extra service on as was written down on the order....was told by my rep that “a couple of gallon of oil and a few filters” will sort it out for my inconvenience🤬...(had to turn down my FIRST weeks hire because couldn’t use a selector grab)...so phoned my finance man, told him the craic, he wasn’t getting anything out of me and it got kicked straight back to them at the top and it was all sorted with in a couple of days.....Finance men/women have a lot of power when needed.🙂

I had a call from the dealer today telling me my first service is due on my E27 (due at 50 hours apparently). £50 odd quid an hour plus parts. ‘How long will it take?’ didn’t reveal an answer - they charge travel at their hourly rate (it’s at least an hour each way) but no suggestion of how long the job would take them once here!
I asked if I can buy the parts and fit myself - ‘You might void your warranty’...
At this point I told them that if I bring the machine to them for it’s first service I don’t want it back until all the paint defects are corrected and it is presented as a new machine. It’s also leaking hydraulic oil from a few places.
They’ve asked for pics - we will see how this pans out (this is the first time I’ve been in any way funny with them, but I think they are taking the piss suggesting my warranty will be void unless I agree to an unknown-priced service!).
As an aside, has everyone with one of these diggers had it supplied with a grease gun in the holder? And any sort of tool kit? It’s a very minor point but pisses me off that mine came without when there is built in storage for one.

When I bought my DX10Z I was told I could service it myself as long as I got filters from them, I think it was so they had some kind of record of it getting done. I actually got the dealer to do the first service and not had a bill yet. I don’t know if it was free or an oversight. It’ll probably be in the post tomorrow now I’ve said that though 🤦🏻‍♂️

Hi.
I never got no grease gun or tools.
I’ve had two new diggers now both have had oil leaks. I honestly don’t think anyone is checking theses over in the factor or before sale.

Having experienced a manufacture / importer get stricter on warranty recently I wouldn’t listen or trust anybody who says get the filters from them. Sorry but I have come a cropper and have just dropped a quad bike company from our portfolio for this, the proposed service schedule is crazy, 3 services in year 1 regardless of warranty. That’s £130 ish a service on a 5k quad. Even if you do 500 miles in the year, never been a problem before until a new warranty man started and now nothing will pass and I’m not a knob, I am sorting claims out my own pocket and putting it down to experience. If the manufacture turns the screws your stuffed. Pay a bit and get it done properly, keep it right

Does this differ from car/van manufacturers - they aren’t allowed to refuse warranty as long as vehicles have been serviced to manufacturer’s spec (doesn’t matter who undertakes the actual work providing it is done right with the correct parts)? In your example if an owner had proof they had undertaken the 3 services I don’t think the manufacturer could refuse the claim (something to do with EU block exemption rules I believe).
