Hello everyone 
. My son, Danny, was a topic of discussion back in October 2024 when he was introduced by ‘doobin’ as ‘the newest member of the Backhoe Boys club’ after purchasing the New Holland wheel digger.
Danny drove from West Sussex to Mawgan Porth in Cornwall - a journey which took a total of 13 hours
. V8Druid said ‘off his trolley’ and Storrsy said ‘He’s from Cornwall. Enough said’ . I personally liked the ‘What a champion’ comment from Gunners!
True to form Danny continues to excel in off the trolley acts and recently drove said backhoe into a raging fire in order to cut a 100m firebreak to prevent the spread of the fire. His bravery (or stupidity some might say) enabled him to access places that the 10 fire engines in attendance were unable to get to because of the steep lay of the land. Two of the heroic firefighters followed behind him constantly ‘patting him down’ enabling him to continue. One of them actually said although a dangerous act it actually made the fire more manageable. Thankfully, after several hours, the fire was under control, saving lives, homes and businesses in the local vicinity. Unfortunately the backhoe did not fair so well: the side window imploded from the heat, the brakes melted, the steering failed due to the heat, the hydraulics melted and the front bucket fell off

A Gofundme page has been set up in the hope of raising money towards the costs of repair as Danny is extremely attached to his Backhoe and is not prepared for it to just be written off and join other wheel diggers in the sky. Should any of you fellow backhoe enthusiasts have any ideas of how to resurrect a true metal war horse with minimal cost involved then please do let me know. That backhoe not only saved Mawgan Porth but appeared to have a guardian angel on board that kept my son safe for which I am eternally grateful having witnessed the whole terrifying event!!!!!
