Gave it a hand wash, including the roof, getting it ready for our next holiday adventure later this month....

Our itinerary is York, Edinburgh, Garlieston, Argyle and Bute, Hawes, Belper and then back home. Be happy to call in and see any of you lot if you are nearby

Sounds a good trip. We are doing very similar next week too- devon- Cairngorms/Inverness and back thorough Edinburgh and down the north York coast line etc. getting Navara cleaned and ready for family. you going in the Navara too I take it!?

Yes indeed we are taking my trusty Navara on this road trip. we are in Edinburgh for one night (all we could get) on the 18th - spooky if you're there at the same time

Will get the Navara polished up next week and renew the PlantTalk stickers
Just Sharon and me, but we are meeting up with friends in their MH on West Coast of Scotland. They will buddy up with us in the comfort of the Navara for days out and about

The builder had two truck loads coming for the footings. Jack and me offered to help on the fleet of barrows taking it round the back

Before the fun started, I knew what to expect. A learning curve for Jack...

Jack actually did very well for a 15 year old, keeping up with the fit builder/labourer blokes

Nah, we are at the CAMC site just to the north of Edinburgh. Could only get the one night due to the Tattoo being on
Yes that is an older photo without the Bull Bars. Bolted that on after a bird strike took out the front grill, leaving it impaled on the radiator.
I'm hoping it will also protect it from Wilderbeasts and the odd Roo

Weekend running bore stuff

Saturday did my usual Harwich Parkrun and the volunteer thing giving the "First Timers Welcome"
Now done 240 parkruns and 30 odd volunteer slots.
Took it easy because of the 10k race on Sunday and still came 1st in my age grade (my quicker club mates were not there)

Then on Sunday there was a 10k Trail Race just up the road at Lawford. Twas an event within a big community charity day organised by Mannintree Rotary. 200 odd runners and 12 of my Harwich Runners buddies turned up on a very hot day. It got to 30c

The route took us way out in the countryside on footpaths and across fields. We all slowed up on the 2nd half in the 30c heat

Ran the last mile or so with my friend Zoe - we always have a larf supporting each other

Peter and Kev are running buddies of a similar age

We rewarded ourselves with an ice cream, a burger and a beer

Trailer Refurb finished

Jack came over and helped me finish off the last narrow board. We replaced the two large phenolic boards with new. The front one was OK because since last time, I always keep it covered with an old board to take the knocks and scuffs.

Now this narrow board at the back takes some bashing during loading and unloading. Previously had a roller go through it
So decided to double up on it. Cut the best parts from removed boards and laminated them together with screws and glue. And packed some timber supports up from the main chassis rails. Now seems fairly solid.

Got Jack to finish off tarting it up with some bitumen paint. Which hopefully will slow water ingress.
Will probably give the whole floor and going over with floor paint and then add chequer plate at the back for loading plant and cars etc

Showed jack how to carefully paint it and keep clean. What could possibly go wrong?
He got it all over his hands, arms, legs, shorts and still missed sections
Think that we are going to have to work on his painting skills....

Nah, the bitumen went on ok if you keep a good wet edge going. It’s all I had to hand that would do the job
This is the second time I’ve replaced the boards on this trailer. And both times just used 8x4 sheets off eBay and ripped them down. Cut edges sealed with bitumen paint. And sealed the edges into the angle iron with brown silicone mastic. If you keep the moisture out they seem to last well IMHO

Good question. £2k for a16ft tri axle tilt bed with sides, alloy wheels good tyres etc but needs a new floor and it is a 2008 model (very little use though). The equivalent trailer now in that spec is north of £8k

I was wondering if phonolic ply is still the best/most durable option. I guess it's a balance between weight and durability. I did look at some 20mm plastic boards but big money

It’s ok if you look after it. My previous boards were fitted 8-10 years ago. And that front one was kept covered with a loose previous old board. Meant that I could chuck buckets on it Willy Nilly

I sold a non tilting 16ft tri with no sides that needed a floor for £3K plus Vat.
2K sounds like you could almost make it worth while if you have a use for it. Doubt you would make much profit as a project on it though after materials and labour

this has lasted three years in my Ifor ... heavily painted/coated 18mm faced ply .... considering replacing it with some 250 x 38 CLS boards, front to back orientation and capturing it each end with some 3mm angle caps --- can't rot any quicker than the bloody ply
I'll groove the outer two to fit over the board retainer lips and it's gonna be good old creosote this time - maybe bitu underneath and the edges

My 146 is at least 5 years old and solid as apart from physical scrapes etc and lives outside.

My GH64 is now twelve years old, lives outside and the decking is solid. Always parked nose up and swept out so no crap to hold water. Never been overloaded, either. Only problems I’ve had has been the rims rusting and causing slow leaks, so now hold two spares.

yeh it's always nose high on the jockey, but the water/dampness still stand against the tail ramp and travels up the sheet ... worst at the back end -- hoping to use the front half (or as much as I can for some shuttering in 'the hole' )
my 8 x 4 is in a similar state ... used to keep the bed indoors when not being used but apathy crept in and it got left in the weather
got a sheet here for that and think it'll get several coats of creosote too with Bitu on the underside and edges -- when I get round to it
