They really are tough little cars, and not particularly expensive for service parts. Mk2 panels are still expensive compared to Mk1 cars, but a nicer car overall. Copart is ok, but you’re pretty much buying off pictures so be prepared that it could be a lemon!

The C1 is such a great little car. This afternoon I grabbed Sophie’s red C1 while she was at work at the local Costa.

Replaced the rear exhaust back box - easy peasy
Then did a minor service, oil and filter as she reminded me that it had just rolled over 6,000m since the last one. Checked everything else. All good except right dipped bean u/s. New H4 installed and job jobbed

Really just a modern 2cv

Trailer Refurb Started
Time to sort out the brakes etc on my old Ifor LM146G…

My mate Steve came over to help Jack and me do stuff. Flipped over the trailer with the FLT and mini…

Then we had a F1 style wheels off competition
Using the rattle gun - Steve won

So the big question is “do we strip down, clean up and paint the axles and back plates”

What would you do?
I expect Gra @V8Druid will be along shortly to offer advice on fettling and adding tish

Barlow’s trailers do online Ifor mail order parts, and they supply complete built-up backplates which don’t end up much more expensive than sets of shoes etc (or they didn’t when I last ordered anyhow!).

But I've already taken delivery of a brake overhaul kit with Bowden cables to do the job.
Probably would have been a no brainer to make the job easier
In other news, the trailer was actually supplied by Barlow Trailers many years ago....
No it's upside-down, I can see exactly where the rear boards are weak and cracking up.
So I guess that when i get it flipped back over, I'll order and fit new boards

I’ve had mine 14yrs, the boards are just starting to go soft over the middle between the wheels (no plastic arches on mine). It’s been suggested to stick a thin strip of chequerplate over the top to get a few more years out of it

Yep, likewise Matt, I've had my trailer since 2010 and it doesn't owe me anything.
May even add chequer plate for the usual wear spots
But I'm now authorised to go and buy another C1, P107 or Aygo for yet another granddaughter.
It make nabbing a bargain easy peasy. Then I can fettle and service said car before handing it over .
While I'm fannying around I may even add a nice 12volt winch

Think you may be right. Maybe show it a jet wash, wire brush then waxoyl

Never known it so dry.....

Usually our back garden is green and lush. Not bothered about the grass, it will come back. Green near the Tortoise run 'cos I emptied the hot tub there whilst sorting out the leaks. Hard shade Pergola has been a Godsend this summer with all the heatwaves.
Trees are struggling, the silver birch trees are now loosing their leaves
On a positive note Sharon's Geraniums in pots/tubs are doing well because we water them using watering cans

we're lucky to be on a spring, which has reputedly never dried up in memory ..

takes 80-90 minutes to get round it all and usually dark by the time it's done ...
don't do it 'til the sun drops behind the Cat's Back (moutain in front of our patio) ...

So earlier this week, Jack cut the weeds, dried grass and hoovered up all the leaf litter...

He really has got the hang of the Iseki SXG19, it's big swing overhang and power tip

Then we moved the caravan to sort that spot out....

Gave it a hand wash, including the roof, getting it ready for our next holiday adventure later this month....

Our itinerary is York, Edinburgh, Garlieston, Argyle and Bute, Hawes, Belper and then back home. Be happy to call in and see any of you lot if you are nearby

The Ifor Williams LM146G trailer refurb continues.....

Back plates and axles shown the needle gun and wire brush...

Then rather than mess around with paint, given a dose of black Waxoyl.....

Then we fitted all the new brake parts. Note the skilful protection added to the Bowden cables. They were then cable tied to the axles to try and stop the plastic from being rubbed off
