Our Golden Wedding Anniversary was on Friday 17th July 2026 and documented with loads of photos on my Facebook feed for those who follow me

In 1976 Sharon was 19 and I was 20. We bought our own house the previous year. A 3 bedroom end of terrace Victorian house for the grand sum of £7000

And here we are last Friday after enjoying an ice cream on Half Penny Pier in Harwich

And yesterday we went to Fox's marina in Ipswich where Sharon had booked us on a lunchtime River Cruise on this fine old WW2 torpedo boat. Back in the day it was fitted with twin RR Merlin engines and cruised at 55 knots.

There was 12 of us 'like minded' nice people sharing a superb 3 course lunch. Really do recommend this if you are down this way

We were treated to some close up views of the container ships at Felixstowe. This one here getting ready to cast off and assisted by 3 tugs.

A14/A12 Orwell Bridge, completed in 1979 and a bit of a modern engineering marvel. Mind you, it often closes in high winds!

Lovely way to finish a weekend of Golden Wedding celebrations with friends and family

Going to be a busy few weeks with Jack now the school summer holidays have started...

Monday we cleared the old greenhouse, that I haven't used for about 5 years..

Jack was pleased to use the dumper to take stuff to the compost heap

Then the nice people from the next village rocked up as arranged by FB MP "You can have it free of charge if you dismantle it and take it away"

First task was to move the PortaKabin from the 'drop zone'...

"Oi Jack, flat pack the Ifor and slip it under"

"Now set up a snatch block on that Cherry Tree"...

Then we protected the Mobile Home with the Neuson and Hyster in case it went tits up...

With Jack tugging with the dumper it came down with a crash exactly where I wanted it to fall. Pleased with my hinge cut for an amateur

Get him an axe. Kill three birds with one stone - build him up, tire him out, save on electricity.

Yep, he has been let loose on an small axe for kindling and loves it
Stumps high gets my vote. And as you say more leverage to dig out. I usually leave them for a year or so at my place so that a bit of rot has helped them on the way. Now got about 5 various stumps around my place awaiting the attention of Mr. Neuson

Yep our grandchildren are our future. Did it with Ryan back in 2020 onwards and now he is telling me how to do groundwork and operate plant and equipment

She is really busy with various jobs having finished at 6th Form...

Got it over the pit. As I suspected, the back box inlet pipe has let go...

So I 'made it safe' so she could get off to her next job.
Mind you the 3 cylinder engine now really does sound like one of Matt's C1s

Later in the afternoon, collected a new back box from our local factors at £72.
Told her that I want the car over here for 1 hour but factor in 2 hours for snags.
Oil service and back box change. Will get here to do most of the spannering

Last Tuesday ran my quickest 5k in 2026 since coming back from injury.
Handicapped race where you can win if you come in under yer handicap.
I did by just over a minute coming in at 29:58 and 3rd male finisher - chuffed to bits

Sprint for the finish, pushed boy my mate, Kev Fitchett.

Race director awarded me a 3rd male finisher Certificate

Plant porn - during the warm up, spotted this beast which was delivered this week for coastal defence work

Matt they are both really interesting projects Maybe I should get a Mk2 via Copart as a project with my grandson
The C1 is such a great little car. This afternoon I grabbed Sophie’s red C1 while she was at work at the local Costa.

Replaced the rear exhaust back box - easy peasy
Then did a minor service, oil and filter as she reminded me that it had just rolled over 6,000m since the last one. Checked everything else. All good except right dipped bean u/s. New H4 installed and job jobbed
