and who is going to determine the level of DD due ... I have a 'variable' one for me Barclaycard and they just ask the bank for whatever the bottom line is, so presumably HMRC would have the same set up AND determine how much they're gonna fleece you for - whether it's right or not :mad:

Sole trader, so all businesses are treated under the same single tax return.
As a sole trader your treated as a single entity regardless of how many separate businesses you create so as soon as the combined amounts cross the vat threshold all of the businesses are then vat regardless of how little turnover each does. Unless you go limited companies

The DD is taken after you have submitted the returns.

I have a dd with hmrc for my paye bill. They just take whatever is due each quarter. Saves me forgetting
