What about a quad with a tow behind mower?
You'll also fine the quad likely to over heat, that's the experience of one on my clients anyway. I figured it was due to not getting enough air to the rad going slowly yet pushing the engine hard

Robot as on GPS or wire guides? Loads about up here.

Or the walk behind bank ones that are the latest craze? Always looks pathetically slow and numb watching them cut acres of flat roadside stuff that would you'd fly along with a decent compact and flail
House i worked on had 3, if you've big lawns they are awesome, they can work for a long time with the right batteries. The 1 mower had driven the equivalent of uk to Australia and ¾ of the way back before it had a few issues (app controlled)

How far off are robot mowers away from being a solution for customers or even contractors? Years or decades?
There's a couple of golf courses near me running large robot mowers for the fairways and rough, they have a handful floating about and seem to do a decent job.

Don't know much about lawnmowers a mates got a stiga ride on with the mower deck out front, they have had it a few years and don't think they have had any major issues with it, although the other week the small bar/pin that clips the mower deck on snapped but was a cheap fix
