Do you lay the pipes yourself or have a guy do it? Presume if you do it you also connect to manifold and pressurise beforehand? On my second one.. mad to do it without one

Yeah lay them ourselves , build manifold and join them up as we go. Just preassure up off mains, all easy enough to do.Do you lay the pipes yourself or have a guy do it? Presume if you do it you also connect to manifold and pressurise beforehand?
Wouldn't be too confident doing it myself although I suppose you just follow the plan and staple down. Do you buy the manifolds ready made with enough ports? Can you use air or just easier to pressure up off a hose connected to tap? I assume the plan allows you to get round a certain area with 1 length of pipe so no joins?Yeah lay them ourselves , build manifold and join them up as we go. I did mine at home - it’s dead easy, just keep each pipe run under 100m (I think from memory) and spec a manifold to suit.Wouldn't be too confident doing it myself although I suppose you just follow the plan and staple down. Im getting flash backs of doing some compression fit plumbing 15 yrs ago with copper olives and the tape. Seemed a dark art to me some joints were fine, some needed a crank and others if you over tightened were donald ducked. I took cold over to a new kitchenette we put up in my old gaffers unit. You pressure it up with water to test for leaks (there shouldn’t be any as there are no joins other than to/from the manifold)
Yep this, I buy the pipe in 500m coils. Ufh supplier does a layout plan and sends everything you need. If it’s only a small area you can uncoil the coils by hand, but it’s back breaking work.. if it’s a full house buy one and sell it afterwards if it’s a one off!I did mine at home - it’s dead easy, just keep each pipe run under 100m (I think from memory) and spec a manifold to suit.
You pressure it up with water to test for leaks (there shouldn’t be any as there are no joins other than to/from the manifold) and I was also told that the pressurised pipe expands (imperceptibly) which helps prevent the screed cracking in the future when all commissioned etc (you leave it pressurised until the screed is poured and set).
You need a pipe uncoiler if doing it yourself - it would be a nightmare without and the pipe could easily kink which would knackered it (it is aluminium lined).
I bought a staple gun off Amazon (which was crap for what it cost but did my job - I didn’t feel bad sending it back afterwards as it was so poorly made!).
Which suppliers do you get to quote and layout?Yep this, I buy the pipe in 500m coils. Ufh supplier does a layout plan and sends everything you need. Where abouts are you in Leicestershire?Which suppliers do you get to quote and layout?
I'd be interested in giving it a go but not sure on my plumbing skills for the connections. Might be worth a few hundred quid for a plumber for a day on a one off. Especially if they have the gear.
