I've got the packout but very expensive for what they are, but seems well made and designed fairly well, bar the trolley which is a bit awkward as you have to unload everything off it to be able to lid the lid, although they now do a drawer version but it's over twice the cost so not exactly good value. The trolley does have a loop on the back that you can use a gate latch to lock in place and the tote bags and smaller boxes lock onto the bottom boxes securely. Not sure how the DeWalt version is but near all my kit is now Milwaukee so made sense to stay the same

I use both, and some of my dewalt tools live in packout boxes and some of the Milwaukee stuff lives in tough system boxes .
Out pump and hoses is in Packout wheeled trolley, as is my welder and spares . Makes a nice set than can be left in yard but easy to chuck in van or trailer
If you want to move it about on the base unit with wheels then Packout is better, and the way they lock together is superior . Red Draws are super prices so haven’t bothered.
If you are carrying around single boxes then DW tough system better size and better handles. I like the dewalt tough system draws and they have survived 4 years daily abuses in and out of my van. I use a lot of the older V1 boxes as I prefer them and usually get at very low cost . Last lot of 150mm V1 tough system boxes I got for £5 each 🤣

The V1 boxes never sit properly on the V2 drawers so mine have been glued and screwed together.

Tried the ToughSystem V2 half sized boxes and couldn’t get on with that all, sold/gave them all away .
The tough system workshop racking is cheap enough and helps keep things tidy.

Summary. PackOut is a better product but ToughSystem is a better value, and more portable for single boxes. Also a bigger range in ToughSystem

Packout is fantastic stuff. I resisted buying it for a long time, wouldn't be without it now!
I use the crates for power tools, batteries and hand tools and the organisers for the same,, plus fixings. The wheeled trolley doesn't get used all the time, but on the right jobs (no stairs!) it's great- fill it up with loose tools, fixings, layer of organisers, crates on top 👍👍
What I don't see the point of is those over sized plastic inserts that mean something like the riviter fills the whole organiser or the circular saw takes a whole crate ffs! They're tools, not wine glasses😂😂🤦🏻

The other thing is- they're almost always on sale somewhere, don't think I've paid full price for any of them👍
This. And above.
As some would know I sold Festool /tanos for many years ...their system is great they invented the whole integrated tool storage system...but it's not tough enough ....I've enough of it to know🫣

Since dabbling in the red stuff I'm consistently impressed by how tough it is. Look at the stick some of the yank YouTubers put it through.
The packout system range is absolutely massive and growing all the time...my money i'd just stick with Red and be done with it.

all overpriced plastic :(
I agree really but you do need organisation and mobility. My go to is the makita boxes that clip together and can also clip to festool. Then I have them on a standard sack barrow. You can get the mak boxes quite cheap and the trolley is versatile for moving other bits around site have taken plenty of scrap doors to the skip on it when enough room.

I've got loads of tanos boxes, great range and a small footprint unless you go for the xl ones.
I've 2 tough system 2 boxes tough and good value plus waterproof so good for outdoors.
I ended up buying a chest for the van as opposed to the packout dur to cost.
Sent mu mate these last night as he's in the same boat

They sell them in Wickes now. I was looking at them the other day. Looked well made but not much of a saving over pack out

Tends to be the problem with a lot of the alternatives they price close and have huge markups

The erbauer ones in Screwfix are a decent saving and seen a few on site now.
When I was on the tools I had all my tool boxes permanently attached to the truck so make didn't matter much. Just had the makpak the drill and impact came in that got taken in every night
