How many loads did you have away from that job looks a right jungle! Did it go straight to one of your bonfires? I think the bloke had a touch at just over a bag of sand but sounds like it paid for you.Finished a bollocksy fencing repair job- not my thing but put a silly price on and got it. Evidently nobody else fancied it- every post has been set in concrete so lots of crush whacked in well used to fill the massive holes left when we pulled the rootballs out. Finicky little things like new chicken wire and baseboards round the veg patch. M18 Brad stapler absolutely brilliant here. Rock auger saved the day drilling out the last gateposts. All spread out around an acre, some posts to knock in also, both digger and Multione on site. It was all oak replacements so that trailer of small oak butts from the other day was just the ticket- love it when things line up. Only one photo as it’s just not interesting and I was too busy most days to take any!
£5750, four and a half days on site (soaking wet on the ground, bloke also wanted it done in a specific two week period). Subby labour and bought in materials under £2k, maybe £800 worth of oak posts if I hadn’t cut them myself. A job that used all my skills and tools but for reasonable profit.
As we finished in the morning and I already had the E19 with grab with us I took the opportunity to have Jordan help me on a little site clearance job. Not bad for an afternoons work with two of us and nor was the money. Very handy having him bring the truck alongside as the road was very narrow and it would have been a major ballache doing it all myself.
Bit tight getting in but I don’t mind scratching an older digger. Probably underpriced it at £1050 but I couldn’t really see just how large it was when I first looked, the brambles were epic. Painful compared to the e27 but needs must. Started at 1, all rubbish away by 5. Popped back the next morning to level it off with the bucket and take a small load of scrap away/collect the digger.
i unexpectedly did a shift on a TB290 today, moving a heap of wet clay/topsoil/snot/you name it, then blading mud off an area of tarmac. It was about as lively as a 580 Hymac, couldn’t believe a modern machine could be so weak on the tracks.I could never own a TB290 myself. Machine itself is ok but every one I have hired has been totally gutless In the tracking department
There's a reason I still have the 175'si unexpectedly did a shift on a TB290 today, moving a heap of wet clay/topsoil/snot/you name it, then blading mud off an area of tarmac. It was about as lively as a 580 Hymac, couldn’t believe a modern machine could be so weak on the tracks.
Not the first time I’ve heard that…i unexpectedly did a shift on a TB290 today, moving a heap of wet clay/topsoil/snot/you name it, then blading mud off an area of tarmac. It was about as lively as a 580 Hymac, couldn’t believe a modern machine could be so weak on the tracks.
I'd like to try a -2 version- might have one on hire this week will see what turns up on the lorry. Had loads of the earlier ones on hire and honestly alot of the time your pulling yourself around with the bucket they're so weak- shame because they dig well.I have never driven a TB290 and was told the early ones were crap, but they apparently updated them and the later versions are much better. Not sure if that is true or not as have no personal experience. @Bri963 - how old was the one you operated out of interest?
Don’t know how old. In All other respects it was good, balance was good, quite fast, I liked it for grading and it was easy to clean up to the blade. If you were digging for services on hard surfaces it would be okay. it was just crap on tracking about.I have never driven a TB290 and was told the early ones were crap, but they apparently updated them and the later versions are much better. X 2, it was a good digging machine.I'd like to try a -2 version- might have one on hire this week will see what turns up on the lorry. Had loads of the earlier ones on hire and honestly alot of the time your pulling yourself around with the bucket they're so weak- shame because they dig well.
That is the greatest insurance liability everHad one on site last week, with the worlds longest jib on it, lifting new transformer up a pole.. didn’t bother to go look any closer at it!

Interesting. They've just done a new transformer install up the lane for new farmstead and I noticed a tak arrive but never saw them lift it and wondered how they would .Prob Same crowdHad one on site last week, with the worlds longest jib on it, lifting new transformer up a pole.. didn’t bother to go look any closer at it!
