Is there a website you can plug your reg in and find out what if any increase in VED this April? My cousin on the weekend saying might get rid of 05 disco as im sure he said tax going upto 800 or maybe was less?

Got the missus a 3.6 v6 petrol last year its a 10 reg. He seems to think I will get clobbered for that?

Just add the inflation rate to the current price.

The 05 disco will not be £800. Its all just hype by those that have no actual understanding. Obviously 06 onwards discos will be £735 plus the inflation rate come april

Ok I did have a quick search myself but couldn't pin down any info about ours jumping up. Inflation is standard I'm ok with that.

Hmm as I understand it based on the emissions of a td5 disco there VED would be £790?

No wonder there's confusion. Two articles both from reputable sources. Rac doesn't mention anything about 2006 being the difference lumping everything between 2001-17

It is on anything after 2001 but pre 2006 has a different upper cap to post 2006.

Literally just base it on last year plus inflation, its as simple as that.

Still small price to pay for not having a retarded green number plate and knowing your always one power cut away from paralysis and moral outrage at folk daring to drive ice vehicles.

But why are auto trader and RAC both saying it applies to cars registered between 2001 and 2017..
'praps they've got it wrong ??
either that or the Jag club have
RAC seems to have it a bit clearer

"Tax bands for cars registered after March 2001 and before April 2017
VED road tax rates for cars first registered after March 2001 and before April 2017 are split across 13 bands depending on the CO2 emissions of the vehicle. In basic terms, the lower the CO2, the lower the tax band.

Since 2025 VED rule changes, cars with CO2 emissions below 100g/km no longer qualify for free road tax. This means you now have to pay £20 a year for VED if your car emits up to 100g/km of CO2.

Road tax for petrol and diesel cars registered after March 2001 and before April 2017 are broadly the same. "

Well this is what I can't understand. I know the 2006 rule has applied previously but now it all seems to be post 2001.

My 2015 D4 is “K”, currently £430. As I understand it, there won’t be much change? If it was 2017 onwards then it would be much more 🤷🏻‍♂️

If it was after 2017 it'd be £195 after the first years payment wouldn't it?
