Went and had a look at an open cast mine in Germany today.... if you look closely you can see the excavator in the first picture in the second picture. This will give you an idea of scale. They are running a machine, amongst others, called the bagger 288.

That really is AWESOME!!!
Incredible that we sit on top of vast amounts of fossil fuels yet have allowed several generations of ‘our leaders’ to shut down all aspects of that industry (and subsequently buy it in from elsewhere).
We are truly f***ed as a country - nothing ‘we’ do seems to make any sense any more.
If Germany are doing this, why in the world aren’t we?!?!?

Germany has been shutting down all of its nukes - Last one went offline April 2023.
Most of Germanys gas came (comes?) from Russia.
Wiki has some interesting graphs showing the relative production, but only year by year. Summer vs winter would be quite revealing.

seem to recall reading last year that they'd been struggling for power through the summer as their wind turbines'd had no wind for weeks :unsure:

My old man used to use the 'nudge the back wheel' technique if he had a biker that wouldn't stop for him - apparently once they'd had a touch from the ' jam sandwich's ' front bumper they didn't go much further after :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
