I would really like to put something like this

its tricky because they are not parallel and ideally could be fixed at 3 points using one lower down

seems there is nothing out there for the old girl - if i dont sort something mrs is going to insist on another bike, sure i could have another bike but i really like riding this one
How do I best go about mocking something up getting something made

Knock it up out of cardboard or corex, then its time with the grinder and welder. Or you go to a local engineering firm, but they want drawings really and it soon gets expensive

dont think correx or cardboard would hold form but yes that might be the way

What bike is it?
You could make one out of ply or mdf as a template and then re make in alli or plastic.
I thought about making one but decided to buy one thats folded incase i go over the bars and get wacked buy it.
The crf300l has 2 fixings either side that are not parallel like your one.

This one would be easy to copy.
I think its just 2 verticle sides and then the top screws on to the sides

has to sneak alongside these panniers behind the stainless bushes that the panniers drop on, as you say I think with the kit I have to hand its an adaption job of something existing rather than start from nothing.

got any 1.6 or 2mm ali kicking about ... easy to cut/bend ... start with a card template, transfer to ali to get your shapes/bends then up it to 4 or 5mm ali?
looks a rainy day challenge

stay clear of tight bends in Ali though ... stress points ... gentler bends (or a series of lesser bends) last longer and stick the shocking they'd be subjected to
tighter bends tend to split the material (often not visibly, initially)

think that rack may use the pannier mounts, so wouldnt work as want to keep the panniers, bad to see in photos so will contact them
