So what is causing this and how do we stop it?
Every day I check for "new posts" and this morning there's hundreds of this crap.
I nearly choked on my muesli

What about new members only allowed to post one thread in the introductions for a week and if OK then they can post elsewhere?

On some of the forums I use one you have registered you have to be actually “verified” but depends how many new members there are each week!

that what is setup currently to stop them the problem is its hard to know and i have probably removed genuine people sadly. There is a real easy spam button i have which removes them blocks the ip etc, the issue is once they are registered for a while and or they have posted more than 10 times it disapears so i have to manually delete everything . Im not so tech myself

could you not install one of these " I am human" type recognition screen things? They're a PITA on most sites but seem to work

The forum already has this and has done since Inception, they have to drag things around to make the shape etc. then Confirm their email

The reason CE died was well we know why but they manually registered new users. The issue with doing this is that you lose the real members in the spam. Since 2022 we have had the "spam filter" block over 3000 registrations. Thats not the ones that got through the net. If i setup the filter for only me to verifiy members and one day 100 people catch the filter the genuine user is lost, and then it goes out of control, which is likely what happened with TVHC... We run up to date software etc so our filter system is going to be better than back then but you get the jist. Ideally i need the forum open and just catch the few that get through. Whatever the last 24 hours is and how they bypassed it all is beyond me
