Tool Chest

Looking for recommendations for a decent tool chest with tools - just for home stuff motorbikes/quad/lawnwower type jobs - since buying the yard and fitting it out (ish) I have been borrowing tools from there on a night to do jobs at home and then finding out I have forgotten to put them back when i need them at work

Not looking for top quality stuff just a usable set at sensible money..... seems to be a lot out there and im guessing some of them are junk .........anyone had any good experience ?

Better quality than sealey and complete sets unlike some manafactures

Definitely Halfords Advanced, get a trade card and they are really cheap with a no-quibble lifetime warranty.

Halfords all the way. I was introduced to them by a mechanic who used to compete in mechanic competitions in Europe (I never knew there was such a thing!) and I thought if they are good enough for him, then its good enough for me. Halfords Advanced stuff mind. Great quality and a fraction of the price of that ShatOn stuff.

Halfords - definitely , especially when on special offer but beware that some of their combined top and bottom bundles work out more expensive than buying the two separately . Get a Halfords trade card for a bit of extra discount.

Have always used Halfords value spanners and have never damaged any, ever. That includes doing stupid things with them like putting scaffolding bars on them

still looking for a tool chest but empty tjis time as collected a fair bit over the years,
bit of a minefield as prices vary wildly and you cant get to feel the draws etc

anyone heard of this stuff ? or is it an eu only thing - chinese like all of it i guess.

if anyone has an nuggets of wisdom as to what sort of setup works best im all ears.

its for the shed at home - working on bikes/cars etc

i would say halfords advanced i have given the ones i have some grief over the years and been happy with them not sure if they are uk only though their tool chests are ok but not the same strength as snap on old ones. i bought some snapon chests from a guy retiring and they are sturdy.

I have the original Halfords advance with the proper latch on the drawers and they are good. I felt the new ones and they just have a detention on the draw slides and no latch and aren't nearly as well built.

Do you have Costco in France ??
I really fancy one of these but have nowhere to put it.

cant find any costco online - there are 3 shops in france apparently but nearest 4 hours or so away and delivery doesnt seem an option.

It’s obviously a bit difficult as you’re in France, but I’ve had a couple of bargain used snapon roll cabs from facebook marketplace. Found these which aren’t exactly local but decent for the money compared to an unbranded box!

Can't remember if I post on this before but I've attended a lot of auctions recently and there are loads of all sizes of toolboxes and workbench type boxes for sale.there must be a glut of em in uk.Clarke and Simpson at campsea Ashe in suffolk must have had 20 plus in their last sale and cheffins often have them too.

I noticed a lot of the container places that get the one trippers and odd sizes in also seem to have assorted tool chests, roller cabinets, benches etc, guessing they are filling the one trippers coming over.
