Daily/weekly maintenance

Hi.
Can Somebody please tell me what maintenance is needed for me to do on a daily or weekly basis. I've started to read through the manual and have noticed that theres stuff for me to do at 50 and 100hrs. I've watched some videos on youtube about greasing every day. Is this correct and what other stuff should I do?

Grease every day. My machines get greased throughout the day aswell. My jcb micro did 2k hours on origional pins and bushes, youd be lucky to get 500 hours out of a hire machine pins and bushes.
Ill also add i didnt need to change them at 2k hours as most would of only considered it minimal wear but i like things to be right and tight.

Generally yes.

Usually they throw in a grease gun and some tubes of grease.

Just give them a few pumps of grease at the start of every shift and you wont go far wrong

The main grease points to focus on is all the bucket end and those on the king post. The rest are slightly less critical.

Just pump until you see grease come out, no point in putting more in as its just wasting grease.

The slew ring and gear don't need that much either.

Use lithium for the slew ring and gear and black moly grease for all the pins and bushes.

No problem. Im abit paranoid about greasing as i think its cheaper than replacing pins n bushes.

Plus its a good way to give the machine a look over at the same time

What are you doing for getting rid of excess grease?

We are probably going to over complicate this for poor old Deuce22!
If you're using it for 8 hours every day then it would be polite to grease it every day.
Otherwise don't panic, grease it every time you fill it up with diesel (roughly a days work). You can feel/hear when its full. To start with, it wont take much as they all should be nice and tight. The slew ring requires much less than the rest of the machine and I think on mine is every 200hrs.
Yes there are different greases for different bits but any is better than none!
Also, check oil/ water levels every time you fill it up with diesel and dont start/turn it off with the throttle on flat out and you should be fine.

That’s a pet hate of mine, drives me crazy jumping on a machine, starting it up and it’s revving it’s nuts off

Also use the speedygrease gun it's decent enough although is a bit of a faff having to push the insert in the rear of the cartridge although to be fair I reuse the plug and have got to have done a good 30+ cartridges on the same bit. Only slight niggle is you need to use cartridges with a fill lip as it won't seal the gun

I've a couple of CAT/Alemite guns Bren, ( was some guy selling them ultra cheap on ebay a while back),amongst a selection I've acquired over the years .... best guns I've ever had
the Ying tong coupler has been excellent too .. as said I'd go as far as to say it's easier and better to use than the originals

Ok, roughly every time I re-fill. That sounds better as some days I'm just in it for a few hours in between other things I have to do. There were a few bags left in the cab when he dropped it off, but I haven't even looked in them (I was to eager to start shifting muck). I'll have a look and see what it all is.
